The price that is charged a the pharmacy, for tiny spray bottle of remover, is ridiculous. Most DIY adhesive removers rely on oil to break down the adhesive, but that would be problematic if you need to stick anything back on your skin. Before I had my ostomy, I put on an appliance and COULD NOT get it off... I believe I had to resort to using rubbing alcohol, but u would not recommend this around an actual stoma. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Have not tried this but did read on another site that a mixture of one part vinegar to two parts water will do the job not sure if it would be suitable for skin that is broken. Finally received a sample from Marlin ostomy products did find the wafer was not to bad mind you only used for two days and finally removed. Found the pouch itself was not well designed and very cheap material very difficult to open and clean the outlet. Went back to the Salts one piece works well and is comfortable although need to use calamine before applying also they changed the plastic they used for the inspection window and you cannot see the stoma until it is already in place when of course you are committed by then. dear Larry, Even though we have never met, please allow me to be blunt. You scare me. The skin is the largest organ of the body and there is a lot of science involved in creating chemicals that can come in contact and not harm you. The company's research departments have tremendous depth of knowledge about all different types of skin and adhesives that won't damage or destroy the skin. Please be very cautious. We have enough experience with skin problems to fill a book. Don't make problems by being penny wise and dollar foolish. Not every manufactured product works for each person. You need to sample till you find what works for you. And then hope that your skin doesn't develop an allergic reaction after a while. Please be careful . Yep take on board the above post, at least you could put some thing on your skin that would cause problems with the wafer sticking! at worst you could be in a very bad way with a rash and sores! ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns
