Hi ALL, came across an few blogs in the MORE section I hadn,t read, one was about a girl who had posted a photo as part of the "Get your belly out promotion" and had the photo removed, and the other was a report that IBD was as a result of eating junk food. Do these narrow minded people realise the effect this can have. My first thoughts where what about someone who has just had an ostomy or not maybe coping so well with one. No one has the right to judge others. I was told while in hospital ill that "may be this is as a result of sin in your life" now please do not think I am getting at any for their Faith as in my view this person does that no favours either! It up to you weather the world know about yer pouch or just a close few. Being open an up front about it was even make it less of an issue, If any one lets a negative comment or action get to them these silly people will have won! I was young when I got mine and was still dating!! and going out with my friends and no body batted an eyelid. Well the fact that I am totally drop dead gorgeous!!! may have had some thing to do with it!! lol OK I CAN DREAM LOL

Well said John!!!!!!!!!

I was asked if I drink alot of beer, etc. that is why I am now.. WRONG !! (a Doctor) A -friend (now) asked me to lunch and when she came to pick me up, she said I had to wear a diaper. did not go! told her she is a very stupid person and get educated!! I was in tears.. for days.. I find some Doctors can be the worst.. The dirty discusted look as if I am to blame- I also, with some GOD people that left the "mother church" get on my nerves, I have sinned. This is horrible to even thing of: but there are times that I wish they were like us..  Or just to be nice, wish they could get a scare and a taste of what maybe this will happen to them and let them think about it.. We know what they will be feeing.. and then more.... But, I will be there to help them through ...........

Also remember just because some one who belongs to a group thinks like that they may not speak for all, and never be bitter, let that go!! be angry and get it out of your system and move on.

John you are right people can be cruel be it young or old . And some people just have no since at all for those I say  (no brains no headaches) . People always used to tell me that because of the way I ate I would have problems later in life . When my stuff all started I asked my Doc about it and he told me what I have has nothing to do with what I eat . So I just kept eating the same probably unhealthy way . And still do . Haha . My friends and family and even neighbors know what I carry with me now and nobody treats me any different  hence no issue like you said . I will say I don't really advertise it . But I do try to tell friends etc. to get checked so maybe they won't get one themselves . Like you said in another post and in this one nobody has a right to judge other people !! You never know what is going on that you can't see !

Oh and John I think you and I have another thing in common the drop dead gorgeous thing !!!! Ahhhh Hahahaha . Ok I can dream too !!!

John, I was not angry, I was insulted.  Most of all knowing people that I WAS close to and knew of what I went through and I am still living besides that fact that I died..  I received many well wishes.. Then that remark!! Go figure huh?  I knew a bit of this illness's or ours, but like many "it wont happen to me" Well, it can happen to them.. They just don't get it..  Their problem-not mine..

Seriously John and Robert, good looking Ostomates???  :-) Where is your picture John??? Still waiting........ Hugs. M.

And another thing Robert and John, Speaking of so called professional / educated people......  When My lung Dr. asked me how long in my life time did I smoke when I/he found out about the COPD-I told him on and off about 14 years....(I am a professional quitter.) He started to treat me like what Nellie produces......  Like "get  out of my sight" type of thing.. He was more interested in my 2 death experiences.. And said that he was interested in this, and from what I told him, he hears the same.. Also, said that my smoking caused my Nellies arrival.. I am not/ever a chain smoker.... No wonder I am so confused at times huh? dizzy blonde I am after some of my visits with them.. I am thinking of changing Doctors......  Don't need the attitude.. I/we need compassion, understanding and "HEAR" what I say--Happy to have this  option..

True John, One little car crash that back ends you-can make life miserable of pain for ever. A slip on the ice, can = joint problems for life.. Go to a ball game and get kissed by a fly ball = head and lost teeth = many difficult functions.. that we are used to.. just get lost in a moment or seconds...... So the song sings on........... Doesn't take much to alter ones being does it??  We have each other, so I consider myself lucky------ so far................ :-)

Nit to keep our pipes from busting/freezing  over here.. :-)))))

Hey Marcie I sure ain't a Doctor but sounds like your pulmonologist isn't either just my opinion . I smoked for 30 years and my pulmonologist never said that to me and neither did my Gastroenterologist . You are right he should have more compassion as your doctor .

Tonight i met a new ostomate. Young woman 20+/-, still in the hospital. She was in the worst mood. You know, the "oh woe is me" state , that we all went through.

Her sister was there putting up with it.

I introduced my self and asked her if she got an Ostomy just like mine. Her eyes opened up. You too?

Yeh, it is under all my clothes. The only change that I made in my wardrobe was to wear suspenders instead of a belt.

We shmoozed a little more. I think that she perked up a bit, but it is going to be a long haul. I gave her my card and told her to contact me when she is ready to proceed with living in her new reality

My point is that as much as others have ignorant misconceptions about us, we too also need to educate ourselves to our new reality.

What are the 5 stages ? Denial, anger, .... ..........., ................, and acceptance. I need help with this one. I probably got it wrong.

I will probably see her again tomorrow to bring her dinner from the kosher restaurant,  since she can't eat the hospital slop.

More later.

I was at a Neighborhood Christmas party when this lady in my hood comes up to me and says " You really need to eat your so thin " . I told her gee thanks its probably because I almost died from a bowel blockage that necrosed my bowel that required emergency surgery that caused me to spend 18 days in the hospital. So you should ask before you say something. Then she tries to back peddle  and says " oh yes that's right you have Crohns " . Funny thing is this hag is a wrinkled SKELETON. She's the one who needs to eat .

😡😡😡😡😡

Bubbles their is always one, I was just out of hospital and a family friend came to visit me! He shook my hand so hard I thought he was going to break it! Then he says "Do you know how white you look" And looks round the room for some one to agree with him. "Does everyone see how white he is" he says again still trying to break my hand and now my arm! I can laugh about it now.

While their are so many thoughtless people out their we still have to remember the ones who make a difference, at my local hospital their was a guy called Joe. every Sunday afternoon he came round the wards with a large bag of sweets. It all started when his wife had been ill and in hospital for many months. She sadly passed away and afterwards the staff missed Joes visits. One of the staff contacted him and asked would he join a group who did hospital visiting. For years that guy would make his Sunday afternoon trip round the wards. All he did was say hi offer a sweet have a joke and move on. never over stayed with any one but he really made a difference
