Hi All, Although in my last post I had said the paste has been working this granuloma decided that it was very happy in its new home. The results where good at the start but it just will not shift! my stoma nurse is going to cauterize it on Friday!!

That's a shame. I know that cauterizing is often the way to go, so I hope it helps!

Granuloma? I had previously asked about how to care for my Granuloma?  I tried to order the Orabase previously mentioned.  can only buy it I. UK as I tried 5 times with different Companies. Because I live in United States couldn't buy.  I'm talking g about the Red and White tube which is good for Ulcers in the Mouth. I heard it worked well. I have an appt. Friday to be cauterized. What causes them?  Will they come back?  

Cheers Eric, the nurse had told me it was her next move. Hi Kerby they are like scare tissue and can no bother for years like mine. I will say the paste was working but slowly so I can,t turn round and say it is not a good product. Yes it is similar to the mouth ulcer treatments ye get. It a real shame that its not available across the pond. But don,t panic about if not painful  just best to mention it to yer nurse and keep an eye on it!! Mine is 23 years old and like me it got old crumpy and a bother!! lol.

Hi All, Have been to the stoma nurse this morning and silver nitrite has been used on my little friend granuloma! Was it sore no! did It sting YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! The treatment will have to be repeated every 2 weeks and for 3 months. But its good to be getting it done, the wee nurse looking after me is a wee GEM she even give me a nice shiny new pair of scissors for cutting my wafers!! think she felt sorry for me after I let out a little whimper when she applied the treatment LOL.

Wonderful news!  Lol I'm seeing my Stoma Surgeon today to have my Granulomas cauterized or Nitrate?  Didn't know I would have several visits. :(

Hi Kerby, when my nurse said cauterized it may have been a slip of the tongue! I could be wrong on this but the nitrate is one step up from the paste and then a Doctor would cauterize which may not require so many treatments.

Glad that you've started treatment - unfortunate that it hurts so damn much! 

Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the end of those peaky granulomas! 

I'm going to ask my Doctor how I can try to prevent them?   Ouch!!! 😜😜

Seen my Doctor. Used silver nitrate on Granuloma.  Didn't hurt till I got down the road, burned some, no biggie. I asked him what causes them. His response : ? Irritation?  I'm thinking maybe Bacteria?  Or from output?  I'm a clean person. He wasn't concerned as long as it wasn't obstructing my output. I don't have to return and have more treatments. I will see him in Sept. as scheduled for pre- Colonoscopy. We will discuss Hernia. As I need to heal. To soon.

Hi All, Second treatment done on my granuloma, have to say my wee friend ain,t so BIG HEADED now lol. boy it feels so much better. I have said in these posts before the stoma nurse is brilliant. not in a rush, sits down has a yarn just about the world in general! and then gets down to business! if their where more like her a lot more ostomates would have an easier time!

That's so great to hear, John! Is there an expected date when treatment will end, or is going "forever" ?

Am booked for another appointment in 2 weeks and another in a month after that. If it heals as well that will be it finished. She did say they have a nasty habit of returning!! But when it got sore I had put up with it for a couple of weeks, then used the paste which sort of helped! Now I know what treatment to hit them with I can work with that. so happy enough!

Late entry here, but I have one that's always bleeding. My nurse didn't pay any attention to it. I don't care about much any more, to be honest, because I'm still changeing three times a day 😂.

Anyway, it's done nothing more to me than bleed a bit during each change.  

I might actually try the convatec oral stuff see if it does anything, just for fun. I'll let u know if it does anything.

Hi Chris, That is a statement about your nurse I don,t care much for, the granuloma yes it can be sore and they can be no bother at all for years! but any stoma nurse should be taking stock of every thing and helping out. By the way I aint telling ye of!! but this issue of having to change 3 times a day that can,t go on. sorry Eric and all to take this post of thread but Chris is their any help you have access to out their! Yes if the granuloma aint too big the paste will help, but if you having leaks it won,t get a chance!

Good Lad Chris, I remember ye saying that. thought I was going to have to get tough on ye lol!! I think from another member that the paste is available in yer neck of the woods. The silver nitrate was the real help for me

I had my treatment from my actual Surgeon,  he treated my Granuloma.  Said, they will keep coming back, if it's gets to b to many then come in. It's not bleeding or hurting. I just don't like the looks.  :( I see my Surgeon in Sept. For possible Hernia surgery and another Colonoscopy. I get CT scans every 3 months to check for Cancer. I'd like to find a solution to use on my own, here at Home. I've looked up products. Most r sold out of the US.
