@tony-h You definitely are in paradise! And yes, time spent in paradise always flies by at a faster rate; I’m sure it can be proven mathematically 😕. Your photos are spectacular. I love the photo of the surfers all waiting for the next big wave; a familiar sight in Portugal. Do your best to just enjoy the rest of your holiday, and don’t dwell on when you’re leaving. It certainly won’t be your last visit to paradise.

Weather here has been pretty nice, except for today, which is gloomy and wet.

I'll explain later why I've been MIA here. 

Tony incase your still suffering from horrible bites, I want you to know your not alone in the itch fest! I get horrid size welts that would fit under a man's big hand with palm curved upwards over the bites. The swelling & itching to the bone is deep and then bruising sets in & I look like I've been beaten or as my typical state these days very clumsy to match the bruising. 

My GP prescribes my Eczema Cream, not yucky greasy ointment, but I use it on bug bites too.  It works great often needing only one to three applications. 

Its called... " Betaderm Cream 0.1% "  I'm sure it has a bit of a steroid in it bcuz it takes eczema splits on my finger tips only  4 or 5 days to heal verses a month or more.  My splits heal as most wounds do, from the inside out leaving my finger tips a wee bit wider everytime I get them.  The last battle I had 4 out of 10 digits with splits, ouch!!  I put a heavy dose on bandaids over night & small bits during the day. Eczema is something I've battled since baby hood! I used to strip clean and go run & play with the goats across the street from us, Mom used to say I told her that I liked the goats licking my back bcuz of their rough tongue, they scratched it for me, just rashy not bleeding eczema, but she says I also told her they had medicine on their tongues bcuz they also scratched my back for me!  KIDS!!! Ugh.    I hope the mosquitos & all bugs leave you alone & if not that you may have found what works for your bites.   Please keep posting pics, I'm holidaying through them! 

Our weather has not been as terrible as storm warnings that you'vehad Laurie, SO frightening!  We have had thunder & lightening storms about 2 weeks back,  for a week on & off but in that time we also had a more then 24 hour continual storm with lots of thunder & being daylight we couldn't really see lightening until nighttime. That said, a sleepover with a very favorite Grand-D meant she experienced her first thunderstorm that lasted into the day.  Shes seen short spurts before as they are in my basement suite & my Son took her to the garage to watch, she wasn't impressed, but nothing to where we sat, snuggled up under a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate watching our skies turn dark, and the Angels were grumbling & playing with the light switches! I had all kinds of fun making up "you don't need to be afraid stories" bcuz this is whats happening in the sky... lots of giggles &  those  naughty Angels will really be in trouble with God! Yes, she got the bowling version too.. lol! In the end she told me she didn't feel afraid of even the lightening strikes anymore bcuz " it is loud at the bowling lanes after all! " choose your story right ? Please tell me what stories you all were told about thunder storms as a child? I'd love to know. 

I've missed being here, I'll get caught up this week on you all and carry on with us afterwards. Be safe traveling to anyone taking a holiday or not!

79 F when is the high today and now it's gray and storming outside for the next couple hours.But then it looks like it's supposed to stop and be clear for the rest of the night and all day tomorrow. 
Lucky.I made it for a walk to the store before it started raining like I just made it back in time.

We had a beautiful Saturday! Sunny, warm, blue skies.

Then Sunday... storms pretty much the entire day!

Much of today has been partly sunny, but much cooler than past weeks (I think it got down to 10C last night).

This week, sun and rain. Come cooler weather, but mostly still in the 20s (Celsius! 🤣 ).

It is 88 here right now and was 100 on Monday. Summer is officially here. 

@squeakyandliza Yikes that’s hot!🥵  We’ve had some cooler weather this week, with rain. Today’s forecast is 18C along Lake Huron, but sunny. I haven’t been swimming yet this year.

@tony-h Those photos are gorgeous and so familiar. The doors are beautiful in Portugal; so many have the Hand of Fatima door knocker. Your temperature there is lovely - warm, but not so hot that you don’t want to do anything. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

@tony-h What a beautiful monastery! Thanks for posting the link to the Wiki page; I’d have looked it up anyway. Fascinating that it took over 100 years to build; the Portuguese version of the Sagrada Famillia, I guess. And so many royal family members buried there. You must have had a great day visiting there.

Did you buy any cork items? It’s incredible to see all the cork trees there, and then to see all the things that are made of cork. I brought home a set of 8 placemats, a purse, belts. I considered some shoes, but I didn’t know how well they would wear. 

Enjoy the sunshine Tony. By the time you get home, it will be lovely there. Don’t forget that you live in paradise too, just a different one.

I have such an immense appreciation for the long line of people who have preserved buildings as old as that one. You captured that place well, Tony!

Has it been hot there? I heard that Spain had 40C+ temperatures this past week, and I can only imagine much of that part of Europe is under intense heat!

it was in the low 30's Eric ,but we kept to the shade mostly  I would have went on a tour of the inside but there is huge renovations going on at the moment , will go again next year hopefully, 

we have gotten as fast as Spain today but the Airbnb is not great , was supposed to have air-conditioning in all the rooms but it's only in one ,

will make an early start tomorrow to a nice place in northern Spain called Castro Urdiales
