Is it a good idea to put paste between the wafer and the ring?

I thought I would get a better seal doing this but it seemed to fail...

Anyone tried this?

Also do you guys put paste on the upper part of the wafer once you stick it on your belly before putting the bag on?

Hey @raspout66, I'm actually a big fan of "less is more" when it comes to ostomy supply use. When it comes to stoma paste and barrier rings, I tend to hear nurses say to use one or the other, but if a skin gap needs to be filled before putting a barrier ring on, then it should be used - just enough to fill the gap!

Keep in mind that stoma paste is NOT an adhesive, nor is it designed to be used as on.  So applying more than you need or applying it like an adhesive will cause appliance failure.

@raspout66

I use paste, rather than rings, and I put it directly on my skin around the stoma. It doesn’t take much, but it works better for me than rings. But that is just me. 🙂
