Hi Mjax,

Welcome to the forums!

I'm sure pretty much everyone here who's had/still has their rectum in place after their ostomy surgery will say that they've experienced rectal discharge as you described. I know that I certainly did!

This is quite normal and it will likely continue to happen right up until your reversal, although it may slow down a bit.

If you experience more than just a little blood, I would check in with your surgeon or GI doctor just to let them know what's going on.

Best to you!

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.

Mjax...welcome to VO! I'm  sorry for what brought you here though!

It is perfectly normal to have rectal discharge, even some with blood, but... as Eric says, blood in it is always worth checking with your Doctors about.  Being that you are obviously concerned,  waiting another month is not In your best interest. No question is ever a dumb question, so ask you Doctor and make sure you tell the receptionist you are passing blood too so they can put your concern in front of the doctor and then he/she can respond  sooner then a month & you will likely feel better just knowing they know too! Because of the blood, It is not unreasonable to ask to have your Iron & Hemoglobin levels checked at the same time.

Don't be a stranger here and let us know how things are going for you! We have all gone thru one thing or another & tho replies can be a tad slow over a weekend you will get responses from those who can reply &  experienced such concerns! All the best & be well!
