Laurie did you use any mosquito repellent when you were in Portugal, I got about 20 bites from Tiger Mosquitos and its not a pleasant experience, nobody else was bitten🤔 , any suggestions welcome 😶🌫️ Good grief! Another tornado warning London, ON? I heard one did touch down! Hope you guys have been safe! Our temps dipped from the high 20's to just above freezing overnight 😮 Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @tony-h Oh no! I’m sorry to hear about the mosquitoes. I didn’t have mosquitoes during my visit, but I was there in the winter. I generally use a product with DEET in it for mosquitoes; I rarely have to though, so I have an old bottle of Muskol (I don’t know if it’s even available anymore). Best to ask at a local pharmacie. I really think that mosquitoes can smell fresh blood; they always seem to go after the newcomers first. For relief from bites, I find that no over the counter product works as well for me as straight bicarbonate of soda and water made into a paste and plopped onto the bites. It can also be used in a bath - about one cup in a bath ought to give you some relief. My husband likes a product called Afterbite, but I don’t find it helpful. The photo of the cathedral in Burgos is beautiful! Laurie Just a semicolon @veganostomy Yes, London. We didn’t suffer any damage; we were lucky. Our son’s girlfriend, however, had a large tree limb fall on her car; it looks like it will be a write off. Fortunately, she has good insurance, so it will be okay. And it's great that her insurance coverage will ignore this "act of God". @tony-h As Laurie said, DEET is going to work really well with mosquitoes, but I stopped using it because it ruins synthetic fabrics, plastics, etc. If you can find it in your part of the world "Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus" is a really good alternative. But I think in Europe, you might find Icaridin/Picaridin insect repellents, which I did use for several years after DEET, and it's not only as effective, but it's way more friendly to plastic and clothing! Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. thunderstorms this morning but last night was lovely , https://photos.app.goo.gl/qLZaze3ouC4cczcc7 Off to Porto now Heavy rainstorms all night and supposed to be all day today. I actually had to take my garbage out in it. The temperature is perfect though. No humidity and on the cooler side, but not hot. arrived yesterday to our long term stay and it didn't dissapoint , https://photos.app.goo.gl/r3VMfCNhGmMo32WQ6 Wow Tony! Photos are just gorgeous. Your spot is beautiful; I can see why you love it. Are you feeling the heat wave that Europe is having right now? You’re in the right place; just stay in the water. Hope the mosquitoes have stopped bugging you. We are having lovely weather here; mid 20s in the city, low 20s in Goderich on Lake Huron where our cottage is. Sunny, perfect for planting my tomato seedlings.🍅 Laurie Just a semicolon it's hard not to take nice photos when the sun is shining and the views are stunning well the weather was so good I forgot to use sun screen and burned my lily white legs 😶🌫️ , forgot one of the meds I'm on makes me more sensitive to the sun (omesar plus) as well , no chance of getting burned today as its the one place in Portugal without sun , anyway enjoying the break , lovely food and places , https://photos.app.goo.gl/sCuM5dShidzSXmfc8 a few from last year when the sun was shining in Obidos @tony-h Sorry to hear about the sunburn. Your legs will remind you to use sunscreen the next time the sun is out. But isn’t it lovely to go from cold and damp to warm and sunny? Good for the soul. And food always tastes better on vacation, but oh - those Portuguese pastries!😋 We are having lovely weather right now; not too hot or humid, just perfect in the low to mid 20sC, and sunny. So nice to have dinner outside. We have a resident toad in the patio garden; a real chonky boy. He’s keeping the ants on the patio under control. If he gets any bigger, the chipmunks better watch out. Laurie Just a semicolon @tony-h Oof! Sunburns suck! Hopefully, it's not too bad. Our weather here, as @tigerlily pointed out, has been great. Mosquitoes have made an appearance, though. LOL Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Absolutly gorgeous photos!!!
