Hey I just found this interesting article about a probable cause of Crohns and Colitis. It seems that it may be linked to a DNA defect. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c1wwdd6v2wjo It would be interesting to read the original study.  Laurie Just a semicolon I had someone email me the same article today. It'll be interesting to see how this is approached. It sounds like environmental triggers are still the big push that causes someone to go from healthy to sick, so you may live your entire life with this "bad gene" and never actually "get" IBD. I guess we'll need to keep an eye on the topic over the next 5 years to see how it impacts treatment. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @veganostomy yes, there are potentially many people who may have the genetic predisposition but perhaps not the environmental triggers. Fascinating. It is exciting to think that clinical trials might happen soon, and we may actually see treatments in our lifetime. Just like mRNA vaccines to treat pancreatic cancer are now in clinical trials, we are witnessing an explosion of medical advances that, not too long ago, we would not have considered possible. Laurie Just a semicolon
