@tigerlily The 6ft of snow we had piled up everywhere is also nearly melted! Now we only need a few good rain showers to wash away the salt, and then things will really start moving! LOL Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Gorgeous sunny, warm day today - 17C in the city. We headed north today, along Lake Huron, so it’s a bit cooler - 15C and still high piles of snow along the roads. Still lots of ice on the lake. February must have been formidable here! I’m seeing robins and red tail hawks by the dozen, but no bald eagles or snowy owls today. My Spanish moss made it through the winter in the garage window. I wondered if this winter might have been too much for it. Laurie Just a semicolon What a difference a day makes! Friday, the harbour was covered in ice; yesterday, just a few floating ice bits. A strong (nearly blew me over on our beach walk) south wind and a high of 19C had a huge impact. I haven’t been down to the harbour yet today, but expect that it will be entirely clear of ice. Watching the cardinals eating the rose hips in our backyard; the blue jays are looking for peanuts. I’ve cleaned out the nesting boxes, so we’ll see if we get any lodgers. The strong winds are bringing a change in the weather - cold again, possibly snow this week.😩 Heading back to the city today. Laurie Just a semicolon Lovely day here today in Cobh 10C with blue skies @tony-h Toasting you and John on this St Patrick’s Day with Writer’s Tears single malt. Slainte mhath!🍀 Laurie Just a semicolon Lovely day here today in Cobh 10C with blue skies Beautiful little spot you've got there! @tigerlily The bird activity exploded over the last week for us, too. Geese are out everywhere, spotted a swan, too. But all the smaller birds are just so active! Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I was scrolling through new comments at work and just saw “bird” and “exploded”. It warranted going back and reading the whole comment. Haha. -Liza @squeakyandliza Rightfully so! LOL Forecast for today is apparently going to be 18C and sunny. I'll believe it when I see it! 😎 Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. We got 17C today Eric with clear blue skies ,hope ye get the 18C We got 17C today Eric with clear blue skies ,hope ye get the 18C Beat you, Tony! It reached 22C by dinner time!!! But, we'll be in the negatives over the next few weeks... Spring is such a tease. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @tony-h ... wow, Tony, that's some video. There's something 👻 spooky about old prisons that have always left me with a very deep sense of gratitude & appreciation for freedom. You may have chuckled watching me watch the video with my magnifying glass in hand reading the ever so tiny print! We've had spring like temps but only as high as 16°c. Our predicted touch of snow turned into several nights of -2°c to -6°c temps. My bulb flowers survived it beautifully. I was very pleased with that. I've never been one to dig up bulbs up in fall & stick them back in the ground as I know some do around here. We are in lows of under 10°c and to go to -4°c at night still. Wind pretty much daily, but I do love seeing the sun. I actually heard a lawnmower & weed whacker going the other day! I'm anxiously waiting to clean out my flower beds but I know the Quail & other small bitds are enjoying the cover of plants & the seeds on many of them, so, they stay a bit longer yet. This is the first year Deer haven't been into the suet feeder! I think I'll be zip tying them shut yearly now. Linda Wind pretty much daily Whether I've been more observant, or climate change has really been affecting where I live, but strong wind seems to be a very regular occurrence these days. I can take the cold, but wind is such a different beast altogether because of how damaging it can be. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @tony-h ... wow, Tony, that's some video. You may have chuckled watching me watch the video with my magnifying glass in hand reading the ever so tiny print! they even do night time tours there in the summer and they are super creepy , theres one old prison block there that is without a shadow of a doubt haunted , I have been there at night time and that place would send shivers down your spine , really great place to visit even for locals , weather back to normal , nice enough morning but heavy rain for the last few hours , got my 5000 steps in early with the dog so all is goo , 7C
