@veganostomy I can handle winter until January, then I want it to disappear. It’s pretty until I’m sick of it, and then it gets brown and slushy and not very photogenic. I wear ice grips on my boots if I walk outside, or I go to the Y and walk the indoor track. Or, if I’m lucky, I go somewhere warmer. I have one week left in Portugal; not looking forward to being cold again.😕 Bleh!

You might be coming back just as things are warming up again! Good timing 🤣

It's sunny outside now (past few days has been sunny), but the needle reads -11C... so yeah, we aren't through this cold just yet.

@squeakyandliza I like Ann Tyler’s books. She has written many, mostly set in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Her new one, Three Days in June, is about the backstory of a mother of a bride.

I read quite a bit - spend my money on books and fabric. My husband has a Kindle that I’ve used a few times; it’s fine but I like books better. And I am an author, too.

Eric I understand what you're saying about winter being cold and just having to get out anyway instead of being stuck inside . This is our time of year here weather wise even though it's to warm right now for this time of year . Hopefully we cool down again . In a couple months I'll be going out early in the morning and staying inside later in the day . Temps will be hitting anywhere from 115 ° F  to 125° F + . That's when it's time to head to the mountains 😉

Oof, that's on the spectrum of extreme temperatures! We don't get close to that heat around here, and I can't imagine what challenges you must face when it gets that hot.

82°F here today for high . Sunny and blue skies . Low 50's F at night . To warm for February though hopefully it goes down . Over the years I remember seeing as much as 130° F . Hard to believe I used to work in it . Not anymore .

Anybody have any new updates on John ?

John posted an updated several days ago, and unfortunately, it's not good news: https://www.veganostomy.ca/community/general-ostomy/rectum-stump-removal/paged/5/#post-26746

He and his wife are still fighting to make the best of a bad situation, but understandably, this has been devastating.

@veganostomy It’s 14C here at the moment; on the way to 17C this afternoon, and sunny.

I have been emailing John to tell him how much he is appreciated and beloved by people on VO. I’ve told him not to bother responding, just to take care of himself, but I want to continually remind him of how special he is to all of us here. That’s not much, but it is something I can do.

Today was hovering around 0c with little to no wind and overcast.

What a difference it makes compared to it being just below zero with some wind!

I had to run an errand by bike, and wore thin gloves, one less layer, just a skull cap and thin neck buff, and took it really easy... I was sweating in no time!

This is actually the type of weather I'm most in conflict with, since it's hard to find a sweet spot between being comfortable and being too hot/cold.

@tony-h Our needle made it up to +6C yesterday! I came back from my lunchtime walk sweaty! 🤣

It's +5 now, and it'll be above zero for most days over the next few weeks. I hope that we're finally out of the clear with this snow and cold!

I am jealous in a way of some of you with your cold weather . Eric putting on cold weather clothes to ride your bike . We are on a totally different spectrum . We're looking for 91°F here today so I'm got out early to get yardwork done . Although it's sunny and blue skies it's getting to warm to early . Eric send some of your cold weather this way .
