Very cold nights, but it warms up quickly during the day. I think it'll be close to 18C this afternoon.

I saw goslings yesterday, so our wildlife aren't waiting for the perfect weather 🤣

A high of 14C expected today; sunny right now, but rain on the way later. Extreme gardening season for me right now - my body is screaming at me. The rain will give me an excuse to goof off.

Tony, you must be counting the days until your Portugal trip. Your weather there will be absolutely perfect! We have booked for next winter, but are seriously considering cancelling because of the uncertainty - fuel prices, the possibility of being stranded if the airline goes bankrupt. Since you are driving, you have a safe way home; unfortunately we can’t swim across the Atlantic. Crazy times we’re living in!

Yesterday did end up being beautiful! Sunny and warm, but the wind gusts really picked up later in the day (over 40km/h).

Today, overcast and "not cold, but not very warm, either." 🤣

counting down the days Laurie,  could do with some heat to ease the aches and pains ,

hopefully things will have settled down by the winter and you can enjoy Portugal again ,

Its frightening to think that the shortage of aviation fuel is causing airlines to fail , heating oil is the same fuel and we bought an extra oil tank and filled it so that we will be covered for next winter ,its indeed a mad world at the moment,

will post links to photos as we cross Europe

@tony-h I am so curious about your route. I see that there is a ferry from Wexford to Bilbao, but you said you were heading to France in a week. So, I’m guessing that you’ll take the ferry to Pembroke instead (please wave to my family as you drive around Carmarthen Bay🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿) and then the Chunnel to France? But where will you cross the Pyrenees? We will all be glued to your photos on your journey.

Yes, I hope things settle down. We haven’t decided yet whether we’ll cancel our winter plans, but we really like the woman we rent the apartment from in Luz, so we want to give her lots of time to find another renter. We’re kicking around ideas for alternate plans if we stay here. One of my bucket list trips is the train from Toronto to Vancouver; even in the winter, I think it would be beautiful. And we wouldn’t have to swim home! Skate maybe?

@tony-h I didn’t know about the Cork-Roscoff ferry, but that makes so much sense. Your route looks very interesting; lots of gorgeous scenery. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos. You must be getting excited!

Sunny and high of 15C today. Yesterday, thunderstorms rolled in; the temperatures plummeted and we got hail and repeated tornado warnings on our phones. We were on the road, about 50 km from home, so we couldn’t really take shelter. Made it home safely and went straight to the basement until the warnings stopped. Early start to tornado season.🌪️

Oh wow, that's quite a wild day!

Our weather has still been mild and mostly sunny, but the winds make it feel much colder.

Our temperature ups and downs are so typical of spring in this area - yesterday it was so cold and windy it felt almost like winter. Today will reach 15C, but Monday is expected to be 28C. Swimming weather! This weekend is our gateway to the summer season; Monday is Victoria Day (we celebrate Queen Victoria’s birthday with a holiday), so lots of people will be out enjoying the warmth and the fireworks in the evening.

Tony, hope you’re packed and ready to head off on your road trip adventure. Have a great time!

https://photos.app.goo.gl/x9MRu5BJgoUci45KA

just a few photos to start with ,

yesterday was a long day , Got off the ferry and arrived at our air bnb at 6.30 really tired , I did most of the driving and my knee was in bits(wrecked)

had a great night's sleep and only have a two hour drive to our first two night stay near Biarritz and sandy beaches ,

there was a lovely Boulangerie (bakery )nearby and had lovely breakfast from there.

Great photos, Tony. Hope your pup survived the crate okay. I Googled the subject of the statue, Bertrand du Guesclin - very interesting! So many wonderful things come from travelling; the scenery, the food and culture, hearing different perspectives, and the fascinating history.

Weather here in SW Ontario is lovely - high of 29C in the city, but slightly cooler on Lake Huron, where we are for the weekend, at 25C. We will head back to the city after supper and try to cool the house down, because it will be hot, with all the windows closed. People are swimming in Lake Huron, although the water is barely ice free. It happens every year on the Victoria Day weekend, and I remember doing it myself when I was young and foolish.😉

@tony-h Phenomenal photos, Tony! So much beauty.

Our long weekend was fantastic! Warm to hot, sunny, and no mosquitos! 🤣

It's really nice to see so many people out on their bikes or walking, but it makes me sad to think that they wait for nice weather to get out.

There are regulars I tend to see out all the time, but so many new faces! And it's great to see kids playing outside, too!

Good grief! Another tornado warning, so back to the basement. The temperature dropped about 10 degrees in a very short time; that’s usually a warning sign. Don’t know yet if any tornadoes touched down.

Photos are beautiful, Tony.
