Sheila had a cat scan a few hours ago and the gallbladder is really inflamed and infected ,so they are putting in a drain tomorrow morning to drain the infection,  hopefully this will be a start to her recovery and removal of the gallbladder.

@tony-h  ... I'm so sorry I was unable to comment, but Tony, plesse know that I was reading along & praying for you both each time I thought of you & it was often!!  !  I know It is hard when the table turns on us bcuz of routines & confidence in each other.  I'm still holding you and especially Shiela in my prayers.  You will know first hand what she needs. Don't be afraid to pull the curtains around her bed or just shut the door and snuggle in beside her & hold her in your arms! Snuggles & hugs are good medicine too eh!

It sounds like the doctors and most often our good  unmentioned lab nerds that know just what we need in our time of illness 🤒!

Stay strong for your Shiela & l know you'll let her lean on you for as long as she needs.

I can still remember my hubby saying to me about 3 month in to his cancer...." I didn't  know how hard it is to be the sick one!" 🤧... Anyways, I know you've got her in your care. Stay strong my young peer! You've got this.... you can get thru this too.  Grocery shop before she's let loose so you won't worry about her alone at home or possibly waiting in the car... Virtual Hugs from across the miles...

Eric... its been so windy here too! The sun has been hot in temps above 80°f. .  .  If you're looking for your misplaced summer, its here!!

I've been working in my garden changing things around. When I was done, I showered, ate & slept the rest of the day until about 1 a.m.. from there while I am awake & can't fall back to sleep, I hauled out my art book & found my online teacher's & drew something! Lol!   It helped me avoid going back outside in the middle of the night after my long nap to try & get to being able to see the finish line! I think I got a little sun burnt yesterday...

Stay safe and well everyone!

Thanks Linda the improvement over the last 24 hour has been fantastic,  all tubes gone apart from the drain and she will have that for a few weeks , she should be coming home this Friday so the main worry is over .

@tony-h So glad to hear this news - you must be so relieved! She has bounced back quickly. I hope you’re able to get some sleep now that the worry is greatly reduced. Someday you both will look back at this time and shake your heads. 😄

It has been lovely and warm here recently - 28C - but yesterday, a cold front came in, with rain, and the temperatures dropped to 19C. Expected high today of 22C, with intermittent rain. My husband isn’t happy because his golf game was cancelled today, but the air quality is bad because of the wildfires, so just as well that it’s cancelled. I was out watering the garden yesterday and couldn’t stop coughing. I will need to wear an N95 outside for awhile.😮‍💨

@tony-h This is such wonderful news, Tony!

Our weather... not terrible, but the smoke from wildfires thousands of KM away have finally reached here. Last night I had a warning that the air quality was low, and you could smell the smoke from inside the house (and my eyes started to get stingy), so all windows are closed now 🤐

I'll also say that our weather predictions are terrible! I went for a bike ride the other night, "0% chance of rain" before I left, and within the hour it was POURING.

Then yesterday it was "75% chance of rain for the next few hours", and it was sunny 🙄

Tony, I hope that Sheila has continued to improve.

The smoke has cleared out of there, but apparently, it's reached Europe. Sorry 😮

It's still been windy and mostly overcast... come on, summer!

Hey TonyH ... The two of you must be feeling the exhaustion of Shielas time in Hospital.   I hope all is well and the drain is working the way it should. Is Shiela still feeling better everyday? I will continue to pray for a good recovery for you both!

From Saturday on we've had high cloudy days with very... oven-ish feeling heat. Saturday hit 95°f  in the back area, shaded. Its been so dry & the grass is now crispy with water regulations.  The concern about the fires again this year is pretty high.  There's already several in British Columbia already & as you've read, the smoke is heavy & traveling across miles. The 👀's  & of 🫁 irritation is huge. Sorry to anyone feeling the effects of this awful smoke!!

My garden is growing beautifully & it's so fun to hear my grands excitement over seeing her single "Bean" plant that she started in school growing.  Together, we made a trellis with twist ties & some bamboo poles cut to size for it to climb against. My Grand has mastered zip ties & was in charge of them to accomplish the trellis. Her bean has reached the first level of the trellis & will now be climbing up it..

Oh, and if anyone has any tips at all on running a 'live plant' aquarium, (due to being given a single 🐟 fish, much like this one,  in a 1 cup, glass measuring cup,  (bc7z it's owner is moving a long distance,) your tips would be very welcome!  I was going to start one in a year when I had time to sort info,  but obviously the date was pushed up some! Lol!  I'm SO all YouTube out.  So all tips welcome!  Its about an 8 gallon tank with 6 tiger tail guppies, 2 Glo Fish  & 2  very well behaved snails as our main window cleaners in it.  The water only had a week to cycle thru. So please... help. Lol!

I hope you all have a healthy & a great smoke free as possible day & that you can find beauty in it...

Much cooler today currently 69 degrees. We can really smell the smoke here in northeast Ohio from those Canadian wildfires. Other than that it was still beautiful day.

Hey Linda Sheila is doing well , we have to flush the drain 4 times a day and hospital did not provide the pre filled flush on discharge , so had a busy few days getting a supply of the flush , all is good now , she's off the targin (oxy combo) and now her only problem is her "output " is too liquid , her temp is good and her bp is good , so thats the main thing,

drain is being taken out monday week and the stent and the gallbladder will be sorted the week after ,

Hopefully they will be able to remove the gallbladder laparoscopically so fingers crossed on that one , thanks for all the support and prayer from yourself and everyone here , it means a lot ,

Tony and Sheila

PS I'm doing great , still a little soreness but my output is great and seems to be even better than before the gallbladder removal .

@tony-h, Shiela  l& all ... That's great news Tony!  I'm happy for you both!  Did I understand right, that Shiela also has an ostomy?  You mentioned that " her output is too liquid."? I know so little about gallbladder issues I just want to clarify my thoughts.

I've been struggling with a partial blockage for several days now. Its a matter of figuring out what my cranky guts want this time around!  ASIDE from them demanding that I lay down too much for my liking I'm still trying to get things done & fully completed in my garden with lay downs according to pain demands! I do not feel it is a bad enough issue to seek medical attention just yet as they are only going to add I.V. & heavier meds & Complete bedrest & I do not believe I am there yet. You know when, when you know, right?

We are have had our third thunder storm in two days & I don't want to watch the news bcuz I can only imagine more fire starts from lightening.   I honestly did not realize I was so badly affected by being told to evacuate out home several years back bcuz a local fire that we watched burning literally across the street from us.  I remember  watching in a sort of stifled horror as we could see flaming debre dropping down off a mountain edge, onto the property across from us.  We were ready for evacuation physically but not fully emotionally.  Our family and another from the same church were gifted the use of a home of another church family on vacation but across town, so we had a place to spend the night after registering with the required Social Services for our where abouts.   I'll be forever grateful for the owners & feeling a wee bit safer that night. The owners had heard about the fires & evacuation on the news & knowing we were literally in the line of fire, texted us the location of their key & who we'd be sharing their home with. Safe, but not sound.  It always surprises me when those feelings crop up again... very deep sigh... ugh.

The weather has had its time of heavy mugginess & the storms. I'm ready for working guts & sunny skies again.  I'm so close to finishing the irrigation!  My son is going to be doing it this a.m. & I will help where I can.

The live plant aquarium my Grand-D & I have started is doing well so far.  I'm rather enjoying the snails! Shock! lol! The 6 little guppies seem to follow me around the tank where I'm working in my open kitchen & living & laundry space. They are so interesting.  When I go close to the glass to look at the snails, they will sort of lift their head and raise their 4 antennae & their eyes are more visible. I added 3 large glass marbles to the front are to see what they would all do.  Each took their time to check them out & then snails climbed on them! Like kids In a play ground. The 2 "Glo Fish", google those, are rather aggressive eaters at feeding time & make Miss. G luagh every time. All the fish are getting along very well.  No tail biting or chasing of a serious nature happens, though the guppies seem to choose a buddy/s to hang around with, Lol! Its rather interesting to sneak in the kitchen at night, flashlight in hand & to see that the fish are sleeping on plant leaves.

Have a great day everyone!

Hey Linda ,no ostomy for Sheila ,just using the polite term 😀, Sheila had no health issues prior to this ,she has good genes , her father was the same ,lived into his 90's and was healthy until the last few weeks of his life .

@tony-h  ... "the polite term!" Gotcha'! Lol, thank-you for clarifying that for me.   I come from a rather long line of long marriages & healthy people, though, their is crohns in 2 cousins that I'm aware of.  Tony,  how are you doing and please tell Shiela to keep getting thru this gallbladder thing!  I will continue to pray for you both.

I have to wonder what it's like to be healthy like that!!  My hubby was healthy, but he had kidney stones 2 or 3 times in one kidney just before his pancreatic cancer. I certainly have my good days, where I can get more the four hours up, then wham!  It's just like you HIT a fly and squashed the sucker!! I'm down.  A lot of it is that malabsorption combination of iron & Potassium & B12.  Slowly but surely my GP & my Blood Doc are figuring out the vitamin malabsorption  which seems to be the hardest on my body.  When it drops, it's hard & fast and getting them back up is not something my liver likes to deal with.  Its a really finicky, nauseating,  often too long process. That said, bcuz I'm not out in public a lot the only colds & things I get are gifted to me via a five year youngster & classmates from a field trip! Lol! She moves on to grade one soon! UGH! How did that happen so fast?!

I've had a long stretch now, five weeks of being ",up" long enough to feel like part of the adult world & not slam dunked into bed bcuz I can't lift a my head long enough to have a big drink of water & stay awake long enough to fold one load of laundry or get thru an hour long T.V. show. When life is in the malabsorption area, I'm pretty much useless & all I can do is to lay around & collect dust,  lol.  I tend to save what I may have or fake to have of energy for keeping the important areas of the house clean & esp. for time with my Grand, the one living in my basement suite.

Miss G picked her first four homegrown strawberries 🍓 last night!  Watching her discover the bright red berries,  pick them, wash them & then eating them was pretty satisfying for both us gardening ladies. Lol, she's a pretty special young lady.  Since she was a wee one in a high chair, when she tasted something she liked, she'd close her eyes, make a fist & then make almost a long Mmmmmm... almost a purring sound. Well, she did that last night before bed over her strawberries. 🍓 🍓 🍓 🍓!  She ate one up here & proudly took the last 3 home to show her family what she had grown from her gardening efforts. Sadly, her siblings show no interest in gardening.  I think all children should know how much work can go into growing their own foods & especiallywhat the plants look like flourishing.

It looks like we will be getting cooler temps for a few days! I just need to whip the flower gardens out front, into proper shape again, they filled out really fast this year! All perennials,  I need to deadhead several plants & add supports to a few others that are tall & leaning. I just LOVE spending time outdoors working in the garden and it's even better when I can help my elderly neighbour's with a bit of their yard & garden duties too. I'm hoping to do that today sometime depending on my guts.

If anyone is outdoors gardening, hows it going & is there any battle of bugs & that mildew thing on squash leaves?  If anyone has a sure fire remedy please let me know. I always plant bird flowers in the garden & I keep have a big bird bath going with fresh water, sometimes twice a day when it's been a busy line up for the bath!  I love watching birds bring their friends & family for cool drinks of water & a freshen up time.  Fortunately the birds are my best defense for keeping bugs at bay too!

I hope you all have a healthy, fun, safe day!

Linda
