Dull and dreary 15 C but its back to normal Irish weather , we can throw away the sun screen for another year 🤣 @chelly our summer starts in June officially but the last two months have been really nice , We never usually get weather extremes here but winter storms have been more frequent, climate change ? , But in general in Ireland the weather doesn't stop you getting out and about once you are prepared, Hope you are doing better and you are getting on well with the more solid food . @tony-h hi, ok yes then you have summer the same as we do then. I bet Ireland is gorgeous! Yes I'm doing much better on solid foods now. I'm like a raging maniac eating and always hungry. I chalk that up to being on mostly liquid diets all winter long. I guess I feel deprived and making up for it. Weather here today is sunny and a bit cool again. Another lovely day here in northern Minnesota. Our summers are short but gorgeous. I have been working on a scrap throw-size quilt and it has been taking longer than I thought it would - but the end is in sight. I’ve never worked with scraps of varying sizes before and it’s been a learning curve. It is pretty, will be a surprise gift for my sister. Colostomy 4/30/18. @llholiday What a kind thing to do for your sister. A handmade gift is the ultimate compliment. She will appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Laurie Just a semicolon Thanks, Laurie. I have been sewing for years but am still a beginner! And … had a checkup appointment with the oncologist this afternoon (always so nerve-wracking) and it went well. I don’t have to back for a year. I am very very relieved and very very thankful. Colostomy 4/30/18. @llholiday ... Oh, I've always wanted to do a quilt with scraps like that, well if it's how I'm imagining it anyways! Lol! Scraps sewn together, not cut to fit & at angles??? Please be sure post a picture of it when your finished it. Your sister is very lucky!! I'll include my address just incase she doesn't want it... 9111 wishful thinking Dream Street, Tariffland. NOG OOH Linda It was a rather damp day here today! I walked with the Kindergarten & Grade 2 class down town to the fire hall this morning. It was raining a bit when I left the house & 6 houses away I was wishing I had my umbrella & enough time to go back for it! At the school, while we waited for the little people to visit the tinkleariums, the rain stopped & the sun showed its chin. Once outside & a good 3 blocks from the school it tried to rain again... ugh! At the firewall those of us without umbrellas, I'm sure added to the grin on the fire chiefs face as he looked at all the unimpressed adults standing behind the children! We must of looked like wet rats! After his very informative speech to the group, one of the teachers was dressed in fire gear. The kids got a kick out of it! It was an emotional time for me. I have not set foot in the firehall since the day of my husband's funeral. The luncheon was held there in the bay of the firehall. I let the teacher know I'd be back in a few minutes & I took the liberty of wandering to the area where the men & now a couple ladies chill out after a fire or accident. Across the room was the fireplace & on it , a picture of my hubby. I'll admit, it brought some tears to my eyes. I allowed myself a min. to look at other pictures as well. I had known some fire fighters had passed from age, covid & cancer. As I turned to walk back to the bay, I saw the fire fighter who had taken part in the demonstration with the gear on for the kiddos. We didn't have to say anything, I think it was hard for both of us as he'd been on the department at the time my hubby was too. I didn't mind the bit of rain on the way back to the school, I considered it camouflage & my Grand was none the wiser to the couple tears that joined the drops of rain. Tomorrow is to be warm & sunny again... Linda It's been a hard few days for me here ,my wife was admitted with an inflamed gallbladder which has become infected , currently they are pushing iv fluids and antibiotics and her blood pressure is very low , waiting to see if it is sepsis and trying to get her blood pressure up , any prayers would be appreciated by myself and my rock Sheila ,always there for me for nearly 40 years through mostly sickness and some health . @tony-h Thinking of you both, Tony, and wishing you the best. I was admitted to hospital almost 2 years ago, in similar circumstances. They were able to reduce the inflammation with antibiotics and anti inflammatory meds, and a very low fat diet. Hopefully Sheila’s medical team will be able to do this for her. Laurie Just a semicolon Thanks Laurie , it looks like she has turned the corner for the good , they got her blood pressure up with help from an anesthetist, she had a settled night and is having a CAT scan now to pinpoint where the problem is , the microbiology lab changed her antibiotics to a different combination and that seemed to have made a difference, It's so weird as I have been the person that always had medical issues and this is the first time Sheila had problems , its not easy being on the other side feeling helpless , Thanks for the thoughts and prayers Tony and Sheila @tony-h Thank goodness, Tony! We are so lucky to be alive at a time of medical miracles. They might want to wait and see if they can stabilize Sheila and reduce the inflammation before they remove her gallbladder. Less inflammation means less likelihood of complications. I remember being so disappointed - I wanted mine out immediately, but reducing the inflammation made sense, I had to reluctantly admit. When I was in cancer treatment, almost a decade ago now, I felt so sorry for my husband, who was my rock. He was there, through the worst of it, feeling helpless. And everyone always asks after the patient, but rarely the caregiver. I think we don’t appreciate what a difficult place the caregiver is in until we see it first hand. Hang in there, Tony. Just being there with your bride is giving her what she needs right now. I’m sorry you’re having to deal with this so soon after your own surgery. Laurie Just a semicolon We had our annual Gutsy Walk over the weekend. I'm still in shock by how windy it's been over the last many, many months. Warmer weather (20C+) this week, though! @tony-h I hope that Stella continues to recover and is feeling better soon! Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.
