When I was younger I showered, took baths, went swimming and even water-skiing with my bag on. Too many times I had to change it afterwards and had a couple of major disasters. Maybe because of my prominent hernia the flange had trouble sticking? Anyway, I just started taking showers every couple of days and I change my bag when I shower and just wash up on the in- between days. My skin appreciates less hot water drying it out, so for me it's a win-win! UC at age 18, 1981. Diagnosed at 20, proctocolectomy with permanent ileostomy at age 23, 1986.
