Well home at last after a busy day , will check out some of the cushion recommendations, I had a Roho cushion in the hospital but they foiled my plans to "borrow it" so I insisted that they order one for me ,they paid and I'll have it in a week, I'll try out John and Laurie's recommendations and see how I get on So to the procedure , it was all done Laparoscopy, two incisions in my lower abdomen and removed the stump and rear end through my rear end and sewed it up from the incide with disposable sutures , Back to see the surgeon for follow up in two weeks , so full of painkillers and had half a pizza to build myself up again and all good in the world . @tony-h glad you’re home now. How interesting that the procedure is done laparoscopically. That will be so much better for you - not as hard on your body. John is right about doughnut cushions. My surgeon told me to avoid them; she said they don’t give the support you need. And they don’t feel very comfortable either. Now that you’re home, don’t try to push yourself to recover in a hurry. Your body needs rest in order to heal. Afternoon naps are a good thing.😴 Laurie Just a semicolon anyone with any good cushion recommendations would be appreciated, the one I'm using g in the hospital is about €400 I was told not to use any “doughnut” pillows to sit on, as it puts too much pressure on your butthole. For my car, I ended up getting a gel seat cover that looks like a grid of small squares. The idea is to offer support without having it feel like you're sitting on a rock. This $400 cushion... what exactly justifies the cost? 😮 Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @veganostomy I can't imagine but my health service has kindly ordered one for me 🤑 got the cushion today ( a loaner from the hospital ) and to be honest it helps a lot , got another one coming on monday , a gel one and much cheaper so ill test them both , feeling a lot better , very little drainage from my rear end , almost dry and pain is easing off , will be interesting to hear what the surgeon has to say on tuesday , anyway just over two weeks post op and doing well . had an appointment with the surgeon and all went well , very happy with my wound care , almost completely dry , and the best news is that the biopsy results came back with no nasties , just some inflammation , pain is slowly getting better and will cut back on the pain killers over the next couple of weeks , so all looking good, hey John hope you are holding up , good wishes and thoughts and thanks from Cobh @tony-h ... oh Tony, that is really GREAT news!! I'm waiting on an appointment with a GI Specialist now. So...lol, yes, please give a review on the differences between cushions. I'm very happy you have had good results back!! Stay Healthy! Linda well im still using the expensive cushion , and it really comfortable, https://photos.app.goo.gl/yQr8LhxtZjnemNVK9 some photos and a little vid , would I buy it , no not for that money but it really takes all the pressure off the sore area , the hospital provided another cushion but its like sitting on a brick , in the meantime they will have to wait until my tush is better before the hospital gets their fancy cushion back Oooo, Tony, that cushion looks so comfy. Maybe they will let you keep it? @tigerlily that's the Roho cushion and it works really well for me , I'm not giving it back for at least another month , To be honest I'm doing really with the pain meds now down from 250mg of palaxia (similar to oxy ) to 50 mg a day now , Will stop that in a week as I don't want to get too fond of it .
