How do you choose between the various sizes and thicknesses?Β What criteria do you look at?Β Welcome to the forums!Β I'm pretty much a "try and see" guy, so I'd usually get both thicknesses and see which works best.Β What problem are you trying to solve by using rings? That's usually where I'd start. Thicker barrier rings will put some pressure around your stoma, which can help if it's flush or retracted, but some may find that it's too much pressure and it may be uncomfortable. The thicker rings may also provide some additional protection, but that also depends on the brand or type of barrier ring. When I use barrier rings, it's mostly on an as-needed basis and it's usually for a few days at a time, so my needs may be different from yours. Smaller, thin rings seem to work fine for me.Β As John suggested, see if you can get samples and try them all =)Β Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @veganostomy:Β Β Thanks so much for the reply. . I do have several sizes that were sent to me so I'll give them all a try.Β My goal is to prevent leaks.Β I was using barrier strips but I'd rather avoid them because they take up to large and area.Β Β Thanks.Β Bob I do have several sizes that were sent to me so I'll give them all a try.Β My goal is to prevent leaks.Β I would personally start small and work up from there. So the smallest diameter in the thin barrier ring would be my first choice. If you need more after that, move up :)Β Good luck! Let us know how your testing goes. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I have a 1" stoma and use a precut 1" wafer.Β I use the 3/4" starter hole thin Bravia ring.Β Works for me.Β Much nicer than the real sticky kind that are hard to remove the adhesive when changing.
