While searching new products and devices I ran into something called twistomy online. It is an investigational device and it's has something thats inserted into the stoma and then has washers like that you twist into. It works with a mio convex base plate. It has a cap so no need to wear a bag. When you empty ypu place a mio bag onto it and twist open and out put goes into the bag and you throw the bag out.

Has anyone heard of this or have experience with this new contraption?

There are a bunch of similar products like that. Some require surgery, and some work with your existing appliance.

This one (OstoSure), for example, appears to be used with any appliance, and does not require surgical intervention.

The "Ties implant" is a surgical option.

I like the idea of not having another surgery and the complications that might come from such a drastically different procedure, but I haven't really known anyone who's used the non-surgical products.

Unfortunately, nearly all of these new products are either prototypes, concepts, not commercially available, or have no long-term studies showing they work for people.

I'd love for them to be an option, but I don't love how "locked in" and proprietary these systems are. It would be interesting to have someone's first-hand experience with using Twistomy or any of the other similar products.

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.

@veganostomy yep, same here,  I'd  love to get someone's who has actually used one of these non surgical devices review about them.

I agree that the surgical ones would be a little scary unless there were a bunch of people using them for a significant time and having great results.
