@cygo that is what I do but maybe I’m just bring too paranoid about the smells. Recently been blamed for bad smells so my anxiety about it has skyrocketed. Near where I live there is great park with trails for bikes, walking and general family activities. The Caretaker was telling me they have been experiencing a lot of antisocial behaviour. Toilets being used for drug taking and left in a terrible way. So sad as it’s a free open space and the caretakers go along way too keep it looking good!! ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns @davidinthailand oh am I bad because I must have mis read yes I see now so it’s like 75 cents and that’s well worth it! That is a nicer version of what we call pit toilets here, they are common at camp grounds and one step up from portapotties. To clarify, the photo of that bathroom is the auto-cleaning, very modern toilet. I don't think I'd want to pull out my phone to take a photo in the other "hole in the ground" toilet facility. LOL Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @john68 yes isn’t it sad? These drug users have a whole slew of business that will not let anyone use it any longer. I’ve ran into that quite a few times. don't like the comparison between wheelchair users and ostomates, since the need to use a bathroom, and lifestyle can be vastly different. LOL I'm a wheelchair user with an ostomy. 20 years in the wheelchair, 8 this month with the ostomy. Retired engineer, now goatherd @goatherder Now that would be hard to do but I’m sure by now you have it figured out when going into a public restroom. Wouldn’t it be nice though if they had a sink and a shelf of sort right in the stall? I sometimes use the baby changing tables to set my stuff in in some restrooms but of course I lay paper towels down first if they have them. @veganostomy , yes the 400k number is probably several years old. but even at 1,000,000 thats still 1 per 330 non ostomies, or .33%. the harder number would be to find ostomies who find using a public bathroom real troubling anymore than normal. i never liked using a public bathroom myself before the colostomy. the ostomy vs wheelchair was strickly ratios, nothing about way of life was implied or should have been. chelly, asking for clarification of information is in no way confrontationally. but if someone gets hostile when asked a question, refuses to elaborate, thats confrontation. @dogtalkerer as I explained in a later posting in this thread, I should not have said wheelchair but handicap. Which handicap could be many things. The hand bars etc. sorry if I took you wrong, your reply just sounded like prove it but I have nothing to prove other than my own experience and what my doctor told me about the increase in ostomy’s. However, in my own experience unless you bring everything you need and have it set up just right it’s not easy in a public restroom to do it cleanly. Trying to reach toilet paper etc.. yes you can just empty and wipe and let the end of your bag smell but that’s not how I roll.
