Yes I can see why you would have to give it a fair chance before giving a review. Spoke with Marlen Canada today they are still waiting for product to be sent from States hope you have better luck than I did. Shawne, Its a prescription product ( so you will have to see a doctor) and I think ( but don't know) its just for eczema. He did call it the 'nuclear option' and it did work for THAT condition. It is: OLUX-E (clobetasol propionate) foam, 0.05%. Made by Prestium Pharma Eric's advise ( above) is very good. I hadn't considered the pulling and stretching of the skin. Just the pressure from a convex wafer could be an irritation. I have this RX it's a steroid cream . I actually have the Lotion form . Great stuff. How do you get a wafer to stick to the lotion? Has anyone used Flovent it is actually for asthma in an inhaler but read on another site the dermatologist had said to use it under their wafer for rash as it is a steroid Oh Shawne!!!!!!! I am so sorry!!!!!!! Please except my apologies!!!!!!! I thought the name tag was a play on Shaun ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Not a problem I was suppose to be a boy 68 years ago my mother decided to stick an e on the end of Shawn and make it a girls name. And Eric, stoma wise: double stomas- why do people have them? and how do they apply a wafer that can protect the out put with two of them? Just wondering. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Salts is a UK company that make ostomy products have been in business since the 1700 I believe with two stoma one is usually for a urostomy and has its own ostomy product. Shawne, All 3 of us girls were to be boys-- My dad had a fit when the third one was born!! But I am the oldest -your age- and I was daddy's boy-I had to the boy work around the house.. Was not easy.. But I Learned much--And I also learned how to say away from that type of work too! My husband, and sons treat me like a lady, and sometimes wonder how I just plow through some things.. But being an ileostomate, they are learning how to be the "lady of the house" HOUSE WORK!! And they say it is hard work!! But I am a good planner and my planned system works for me.. IF they could just use my system... :-{ 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Stick to lotion? U don't....... slip and slid....... 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Try Flovent aersol inhaler works for me I seem to get a full day out of a product and then it cause an itch around the edges and moves inwards. Shawne I feel your pain! You describe similar problems that I also have. The itching, pain and bright red rash and swelling is miserable and frustrating. I have tried multiple systems, barriers, removers, etc and seen my ON and a dermatologist. It ends up confusing the matter. It has been narrowed down to allergy/sensitivity to adhesive as you have said. Oddly, it seems to start with burning and bright red swelling right after I remove the appliance. When I put on the new one the redness, pain and itching starts around the edges then moving in. If I can endure it for a day it calms down and the rash around the edges heals and pain and itching calms down. Then the whole thing starts over at next change. The only thing that has helped me is to use as few products as possible and to safely go as long as possible between changes so as to not flair it up again. I use Mio 1-piece light convex with Eakin Slim around stoma opening. As I said, after trying numerous products, the best so far is using Remedy Phytoplex no-rinse cleanser to help remove appliance and residue and rinse in shower. I don't use anything else unless I have active bumps or rash then I use stoma powder and barrier wipe over that area. I wish I could be of more help but I am still going through the constant trial and error process myself. I'm not sure I ever will find an answer. All the best to you with your ongoing search for relief! 54 years Type 1 Diabetes, insulin pump, CGM, neurological complications, retinopathy, and autoimmune CIDP. Nerve damage led to ileostomy in 1/2015. Hi Shawne, I feel I can understand your struggles as I have the same issue - I have many allergies and sensitivities including very sensitive skin. I was diagnosed with chronic pruritus a few years ago and I know very well how itches can make you feel crazy (I sometimes have to run around the house like crazy when the itches are so terrible and when no steroid lotion really works as being in the cold air helps my pronounced sensation to calm down a little). I was advised by my stoma care nurse to use convex pouches but they squeeze my stoma and interfere with the flow of output causing partial blockages, so I have decided to give up on convex pouches. I am seeing my stoma care nurse tomorrow to report which pouch I have decided to order, and I have decided to try b braun's softima roll'up. I didn't like softima roll'up convex but I find that the wafer of softima roll'up is gentle to the skin and in any case, it has caused the least problems for me in terms of wafer compatibility. Dansac's wafers are also gentle to the skin and their pouch would be my second choice. They make good convex pouches including one with a soft mouldable wafer (but one piece). I also tried Salts' aloe vera convex pouch and it caused lots of itching! I also use a steroid lotion but I try not to rely on it too much as using any kind of steroid too much and too long is not good for you. best wishes, kiya I seem to get a full day out of a product and then it cause an itch around the edges and moves inwards. All the best to you with your ongoing search for relief! Try taking Oral Benadryl if you react to lotions . It will stop the itching and swelling reaction . Benadryl is a safe drug for most very common . Check with your pharmacist. My doctor friend told me about this . Dear Kiya, and bubbles, I am so happy that u two found each other!! Having someone that REALLY HONESTLY understands is so helpful-- Best to you both!!!!!!! M. Kiya, come and join us at the lounge sometime.. Wishing u both better days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Welcome Dianna------ Eric has so much to offer and u can even ask him questions and he will reply-- We even have a lounge.... to chat with fun.. Hope your doing well. M. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Hello Marcie, Thank you for inviting me to 'the lounge'. I didn't know such a thing exists here. Shawne, if you haven't tried Clinimed's Aura pouches, it may be worth getting some samples. These pouches are infused with 'medical grade manuka honey' and are very kind to skin. The reason I am not choosing to use their one piece pouch is that I find the flange a little too large (for me, the smaller the wafer is, the less adhesives I am covered with). You may also want to try Coloplast's Brava skin cleanser. I keep the package in the fridge and it really soothes irritated skin. best wishes, kiya Thanks for all the replies not sure if clinked I’d sold in Canada but will look into it. Managed two days with the Salts convex one piece without the Aleo could not tolerate the Aleo at all caused a rash. Did stick it out for two days but second was a fight. When I changed this last one without the Aleo the rash was still there around the edges but was not sore put this second one on with two coats of Cavilon so far so good. Was going to try the salt sea lotion that Salts have on their site suppose to be soothing to the irritated skin and can stay on so may just be a product similar to Cavilon. Will definitely ask my Dr. for Flovent the steroid I have is a cream and not easy to get a wafer to stay stuck. Dansac is not available in Canada unfortunately. Will pick up some Benadryl tomorrow as well. Cannot use CoLoplast products or hollister. Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to reply. Your welcome Kiya, Did u got through it all yet? Its fun and takes ones mind off our problems.. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie..
