Hey guys, For those of you who normally get email notifications for topic or private messages, have they been coming through? From time to time, I get a barrage of dozens of errors on the site backend that says emails aren't going through, and neither are the fallback options - yet when I test it, email DOES come through and I've been getting them too. I just want to confirm whether this is an actual problem or if the error reporting is sending out false flags. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I have been getting emails about private messages. 🙂 -Liza Yep It all seems to be working on my end👍 ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Thanks for confirming. I'm still seeing errors in the log, even for this very topic, so I'm just going to ignore it for now. LOL If you guys do notice missed notification emails, please let me know through this topic and I will follow up. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. I get emails on topics I've subscribed to but I thought there was a spot I clicked on to be made aware of new topics. If I remember right, I thought I had done that. If so, I do not get that notice, so I check a few times to see whats new. Thank you Eric for always being so thorough! Linda I just switched software that handles email sending (not the service itself). I'm hoping this one is more honest about email errors - crossing my fingers nothing screwed up. LOL Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Hi Eric, I get the emails, but they're suddenly going into my Spam folder. They never used to do that, and it might have no bearing on this topic, but the timing of that change and your query about the error messages seems coincidental enough to raise the possibility of a non-trivial connection. Perhaps there's some new code or formatting that has triggered this change as well as your error flags, maybe a server configuration issue of some kind. Tony Eric, Funny Tony should mention this. I was looking in my spam folder yesterday for an email sent by my ostomy nurse and found some VO emails as well. Like Tony, I have never had them in my spam folder before. But I also had some in my inbox as well. -Liza Thanks @ileostony and @squeakyandliza for letting me know. The timing is a little suspect for sure, but nothing should have changed with the service used to send email (Amazon SES). It's possible that whatever email software or service you use have their own way of deciding what's spam and what's not. If you find these emails in your spam box, mark them as "not spam" so it trains your email not to send them there. I'll investigate more to see I can improve the deliverability of the email. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Quick update. I've found a setting that may have been misconfigured and should have cut down on false flags for spam. It may be a few days before the setting has been validated, so let me know after at least a week if you still get my email marked as spam. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. If you find these emails in your spam box, mark them as "not spam" so it trains your email not to send them there. That is exactly what I did. 😀 Thanks Eric, for working so hard to make this website such a great asset for us!! -Liza @squeakyandliza Ok, Amazon validated the new setting, which should reduce or eliminate false spam. Not to get technical, but it allows email clients/services to cross-reference whether an email sent did come from the true sender. Basically, it confirms that email from @veganostomy.ca is from veganostomy.ca. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @veganostomy...uhoh....l never thought to check my Spam...so I did & it has so much VO mail in it I nearly flipped. Right up to Yesterday. I thought things were just a little quiet for VO, so I had a look. Sorry Eric, there's too much there not to mention it. I didn't know we could train our email to not Spam important mail. I'm Still learning! lol! Linda @dlkfiretruck It happens :) Email shouldn't end up in spam now, but just tell your email program that it's not spam and it should correct itself on your end. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.
