It does seem possible to find a diet that is healthy for everyone, especially people who need anti inflammatory diets and include diabetics too.  I can see the problem with actual recipes, but it could be more of a guide book with some sample recipes. Like an outline to work from. Many of us do not know how to eat or how our food effects our health. I was given from none to bad and often conflicting advise when I became ill with UC. My husband and I are basically vegetarian and have been for decades. Not Vegan, however.. But there is a happy medium in there someplace. We try to eat mindfully if that makes sense. Probably best to pursue this subject after the major feast day of the year in the USA. So happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is celebrating it. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Eric, I would love to see your "General formula" if it is something you can write out. I am not a very creative cook. I envy friends who can peek in the refrigerator and pull together a wonderful meal.  Severe rheumatoid arthritis, spondoloarthropy, polymyalgia rhumatica, type 1 diabetic, IBS and finally, emergency diverticulitis surgery, colon removed Stella born Jan. 27, 2017. 6 bouts of c-diff, failed fecal transplant. Eric, I would love to see your "General formula" if it is something you can write out. I am not a very creative cook. I envy friends who can peek in the refrigerator and pull together a wonderful meal.  The trick is to have ingredients that tend to work well with each other. For example, we have mixed frozen vegetables that can be used in pasta sauce, one pot rice meals, or even chili. Easy. Then we have things like tofu, which can be used in pretty much any dish : fried, blended, crumbled, raw (and seasoned), etc. Easy! It helps to have seasoning and marinades that are versatile. Sometimes, simply changing the seasoning can change the dish. So you don't necessarily have to cook a dozen different dishes, but you can use a dozen different seasonings to vary things up. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Dona, it was getting so frustrating for me having a different diet for each malady that plagues me. I have counted carbs to calculate my insulin needs for a long time. The dietician took my diabetic info and then has me substituting in foods from the fodmap diet (good for IBS) and the colonostomy diet (not so much a diet as a list of good and bad foods.) I just started doing it this week, we are trying it for a month and will meet again and tweek things. And something came along that I have waited for, for a long time. My glucose meter finally wore out after 10 or so years. The doc gave me a new one. By Bayer and called a "Contour Next".  It ties to an app on my cell phone via blue tooth. It automatically creates a log book for me ... no muss, no fuss, no bother. I thought that anyone that is diabetic along with everything else would appreciate. I also saw the same meter in my drugstore... it was $9.99 US dollars. SOMEONE ate 1/2 the pie last night!!! yes it was TOM !!!! 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Hi Barbara, I suspect you don't need a different diet for all that ails you. Eric is right. Choose foods that are good for you ( and anti inflammatory if possible) and learn to make them a number of different ways. Hot tip is to make lots and have left overs so you are only cooking a couple of times a week ( I do not live with children so there are leftovers). By varying the way things are cooked, and combined and seasoned you can get lots of variety with almost no food waste. Concentrate on whole wheat if you eat bread, fruits and veg Beans nuts fatty fish ( salmon) if you eat fish. Go for color. Go for low fat dairy ( if you eat dairy). Make it tasty and simple. Branch out later. Do not get too focused on each day. Its more of a pattern of learning what to eat. I try to get at least 5 servings of veg and/or fruit a day. Fresh, canned or frozen is fine. Just do it. Bit by bit, you will grow to enjoy those foods..just do the best you can each day .. wake up to a fresh day and try again. Eric is right about tofu too. true it has almost no flavor..but think of that as a plus. You can use it in almost anything. Good luck. I think watching your sugar and processed food intake is also important. Also, eating out is really hard because you can't know whats in the food!  Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012.
