There was an article in our local paper today about the mistrial for the case I was on the jury for.  I am now allowed to talk about it.  If you read the article, it says jurors were questioned one by one.  I originally was assigned number 2, but they dismissed the gal who was number one, so I became juror number one.  So, we were sitting in the jury room on a break and the bailiff came in and said "Juror number one, please come with me."  I was totally freaked out, not knowing what was going on.  Then they took me into the courtroom and made me sit in the witness box and the judge reminded me I was under the oath, since the swore the jurors in at the beginning of the trial.  I had no idea what was going on.  I thought I was in trouble.  Lol.  Then the judge started to ask me a question, but the defense attorney stopped him because the prosecutor wasn't there yet.  So I had to sit up there and wait, still with no idea what was going on.

So eventually the prosecutor came back and then the judge asked me about the comment they refer to in the article, which I did remember, and had made a note about in my notepad they gave us at the beginning of the trial.

All in all, it was a very interesting experience, and the trial was very interesting.  The opening statements mentioned a lot of things that they hadn't gotten to yet in the trial, that made it not seem so straight forward, and i was very curious about how it was all going to go down, and was actually very disappointed that the mistrial happened.

@veganostomy

Eric, they have scheduled a new trial for January.  They will have to have a new jury.  Which is just more expenses to the tax payers.  I think they should fine the idiot who made the comment, but that is just me.  :)
