Hi everyone,

We are gearing up here in Northern VT for a whopper of a storm (or so they say). Supposedly, we will be getting up to 18 inches of the white stuff over the course of two days. Despite my nonchalance, we are still prepared. We have a wood cookstove incase the power goes off, and a new wood stove in the cellar, which keeps things warm in the basement and on the first floor. We also have gravity fed water as well (no pun intended!).

I plan to get out on my snowshoes when it's all over. Snowshoeing is my sport of choice during the winter, as I am less likely to fall. (You DON'T want to see me on skis! I'm truly pathetic!!!) Though, breaking new trail after a snow is still tough, especially on this older body of mine.

Are there any out there who do winter sports? What is your pleasure?

Stella

Hi Stella, Over here we never really get that much snow any more. Thursday morning we got a light dusting which lasted for an hour. Do remember using plastic fertiliser bags (which are quite large) as a child to slide down hills😃 be sure and leave a torch handy for yer supplies just in case you need them during a power cut. Yer stay warm

I just came back from shoveling our driveway - definitely the most snow we've had this season, but nowhere near 18 inches! Yikes!!

Hmmm, we are over 130 inches now.   I've got over 140miles on the skate skis this season, hoping to break 500miles this season.

Hi folks,

We got only 14" of the white stuff, but it has been so dang cold, I haven't been able to go snowshoeing. We've had night time temps around negative 13 degrees fahrenheit and day time temps didn't get above -4. Wind chill temps were around -25 to -35 below. The temperature is supposed to go up to the 30s by tonight with rain expected tonight through tomorrow. EGADS! Snow I can deal with, but rain in the winter is a bummer! Oh well, this way I can get to some of my winter sewing projects and card making.

God bless!

Stella

Want to trade? =)

We were lucky all winter, but the snow we've had in the last two weeks more than makes up for any we missed in the previous several months. I'm really looking forward to warmer weather!

The cold weather is causing problems in our house. My wife has bought this huge fake fur blanket for the bed, it’s weights a ton and it’s too warm!!! We look like we should be in an igloo. I would threaten “me or the blanket “ but I know who would win 😂

YES, it is so cold.  Got it fast-- below 0 here in Ct. Thing is u don't feel it until it is to late. KEEP YOUR KIDS IN.. The car takes longer to heat up within its engine and I find the breaks don't work well either when I venture out for my early infusions.  Never  experienced  this before.  NOW I KNOW ! 72 hours from now it will bein the 50's..  FLU WEATHER !!!!!!

Linda,

BRRR - that beats us! Things have quieted down and warmed up. I was able to go snowshoeing at least three times last week. It's now 23 degrees F here - much warmer, but in the next couple of days, we are expecting rain.(Yuck, I'd much rather have snow this time of year!)

John, I understand where your wife is coming from - I'm no heater and need the extra warmth at night. Does it really get that cold where you're from? I always thought of Ireland as being damp but not too chilly - I guess everything is relative to one's situation.

Take care all!

Stella

Forget the snow - today it's freezing rain! This is why I never complain about the summer!
