Did he say why ? Could it be the c-diff . Supposedly you can't take these drugs when you have a serious infection . The infection will get 10 times worse since your immune system is being messed with . He should at least give you a reason . It may be for your own good but you still need an explanation.

HI Dona, how are u doing?  I bet the weather your way is better than here!! How r u doing after your mesh hernia surgery?  It was this past spring correct? Are you in more of a difficult situation now than before as an ilestomate?  As far as doing things around the house etc.?

Dona, Marcie and Bubbles. The explanation is that remicade increases my chance of infection.  I looked into how much more prone to them ... It equals about 2.25% more. That's a choice I am willing chance. According to the gastroenteroligistthat I see, he would still give it to me. He has experience with remicade for IBD and chrone's disease and he thinks the odds are acceptable.  I have an appt. with Dr. LaSalle on Wednesday at 10:45. and I am sure we will figure it out. The thing that is so dang discouraging is that I have gone from drug to drug trying to find something that helps without having side effects that try to kill me, as methotrexate did.  Every time I start a new one I have to wait till the old one gets out of my system before starting the new, then it takes about 6 months to build up to therapeutic levels. I think I pinned my hopes to high on that one.  I just want the RA in remission before I become more crippled  than I already am. In the words of Merle Haggard I'm so far down it looks like up to me!!

I have contemplated MM but have been chicken (must be flashing back to the 60s).  There is a gal here who uses the drops and says it works for her.

THE M.M. is not like the 60's- As ,I have been told by many these days- I do ask many questions from these people and rather shocked and comforted by ALL of their experences..  and would feel very comfortable with this IF I had the choice to take these without fear. Many use this as of their R.A. They lead a nice everyday life and drive.. Their meds just didn't hack it for them. Everyone's recipe is different as of everything else on meds. Some use this also with their meds also.  If I was in your pain I would go for it.. 

Good luck with your Dr. appoitment's.  You still have fight in you Barb. Get the layman's terms if needed-I do.. ALWAYS.... Still come home a bit confused but I make a call.. Have your list of questions and demands ready-Let them explain every aspect of each corner and the future of theses med, and what else is out there. I always say "then what???" and "what if"

I think that your on the ball here- keep the ball in your court.. :-) I know that this is impossible for you at  this time-but try to relax a bit, getting yourself all  worked up doesn't help with ANY pains..  Ask them about the M.M.  -- asking wont hurt.. I think all medical meds for pains are trial  by error with many in your shoes.. None have worked for me--just the relaxing meds (I asked for) helped me through a few surgeries.. Just had to take the bull by the horns!! I feel for you- I am not a Dr. as any of us-but what we learn and see, read, and experience ourselves is all we can do-- such as your self-I am learning.  There is no magic pill out there as far as I am concerned. We all have our issues..... Is there a pool that is for people with this to excerize?  IT is about 4 feet of water/warm, and they just float around I have friends that goes every other day.. Better nursing homes have them.. Check it out and u will find woman that are in your shoes and make a few friends that know what your feeling.  They go out to lunch, care for each other.. Nice little team they have.. And best my friend said, no one has much money--so it is easy going on all sides.. As I and many others are on a flat rate income of retirement.. "The golden years huh? the only thing golden about it is our pee--" :-)

Barbara, don't forget that the Doctors HAVE to cover their butts-so they will go by the text book.. I found that I HAVE to get through to them of MY concerns, If there are any other options out there for me. Seems like I have to turn them in a different directions.. AND, Then I get the different blood work done and it turns out that I CAN go to a different med. OR just plain go off it..  I was amazed with my last few visits, of my so called "in the face with Dr." that if I didn't do this, and got a different blood work.. they would have kept me on a medication for NO reason.. Your R.A. is painful I don't have it so, I cant say I feel that pain.. IT also a lifer, I do have the big "A" also,  yes I have the pain.. and it will get worse I know, As of my C.O.P.D. this will kill me faster!  as it affects all of my orgens.. (sp) It affects my daily life, and I know that it will get worse.. So, I have to deal with it.. I get up in the morning feeling great and then down in the afternoon- I do to much early on in the day-That I have to re-arrange..*I did quit smoking tho* YAA for me?? didn't smoke much and only for less of a year.. but the damage was done from a teen years.. thought that I was so adult like--real cool grown up-- but they didn't have the information like they do now back then..  WE sure got hit fast huh - all at once.. Like every other Dr, visit "I got what??" ????????????

Tom decided to have the septic tank pumped out on that day-so he couldn't take me out for a nice late lunch after infusion.. He wanted to be here if anything had to be fixed etc. SO, when I came home-Tom left to get me my favorate Chinese chicken wings, egg roll, and wanton soup up in Mass. Then the septic tank man came-Tom forgot to close the garage door AND the door from the hall leading into the garage. That is where the truck parked. Well! The whole house smelled so bad for 12 hours!! Couldn't open the windows as it was so cold out.. (I ate in my bedroom........:-)  - love my sanctuary) IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!!  this is a Marcie thing.. odd /things/ always happen to me- funny huh? got to Laugh!!   I just sat there wondering WHY TODAY??????? But he ordered me a skirt that I wanted so much and it was WAY to expensive I thought-so he did that and some flowers. That's a nice make up huh? HE felt bad....... 

Yes, I did quit smoking.. a bit confused still and bitchy........ Keeping myself busy-- Slept in until 10:00 am eastern time--Today, I made 3 carrot cakes, cleaned the kitchen after that.. vacuumed the whole house (I put down some carpet freshner for the smell) did 2 loads of laundry, and now doing some rugs.. Keeping up with our Barbara, and Kiya, washed down my master bathroom -as always-- Ironed a few shirts. I am done for the day-- :-) M.

I'd be done for a week after that!!

I try to keep going.  Helps my back pain/problems.. But I think as u, I maybe done for the week.. I have my heating pad going............. 

But knowing me, I am my worst emeny-- at times, and find something else to do.. Maybe polish the silver ware for the holidays-- Like my men here, will notice?? .......... But I keep doing things that will come into place once I am done with "the" circle and do it all over again-- I really need to get the paint for my kitchen cabinets.. Tom has a hernia, and needs surgery again on his hands.. So, I am in a more of a working position than he is.. Plus he has feet problems.. My sons take care of the yard work, and the center bathroom..-trash-weekly-and what ever needs to be done.. I hardly ever vacume-but they have been working long hours.. etc. so I JUST had to vacume.. I will cook the Thanksgiving dinner and they will clean up.. The holidays I start days prior.. pies, setting the nice table etc.. making sure that he dishwasher is cleared -- and room in the refregeator for left overs- or space in the garage.. -- that in its self is much work..  Got to have a plan.. I am doing so well now this year.. I want everything to be nice as possible.. MOM is back!!!!  After the holidays?   DONE!!!! 

Stay busy Marcie keeps your mind off not %#!(%^ you know . Don't want to mention it didn't want to hear it when I was quitting .

Robert, I never said bad words of/during quiting-- it is the mood swings. and then my family say them.   :-) hahah.   I figure that is their problem.. to0... When I announce that I am going to do something, they should know by now-stay away.. Hey I duck and hope for the best for their issues.......... 

Been eating all of my cakes and other baking goods during this, and I LOST 3 more POUNDS than normal!! which = 6 pounds less.. every other day-- what gives???????? 112 pounds today 5' -8".. with heavy clothes on too- I was so upset- that I had A ---. yup-- u guessed it...  now I feel even worse................

Marcie I know it must be hard not being able to gain weight even tho you try . Just keep trying eat twice as many cake or baked goods than your eating eat more ice cream eat eat eat ! We're not in the lounge but that's ok . So you had a you know it's ok just a bump in the road you are doing good . Just hang in there ! Mood swings are gonna happen that's the way it is .  They say it's harder to do than quitting heroin . I never did that but I did smoke for way to long . Holidays and good family times are coming ! Hang in there my  Ct. friend .

I hope no one considers this to be just spam, but when I am truly thankful for something I have to give thanks.  A few weeks ago when I joined this site I was lucky to get one whole day out of a complete appliance, I was having blowouts nearly every day.  So many of you offered hints, tricks and ideas that I knew there would be an answer.  Today I did a complete change and I had used the appliance for four days and the pouch for 5. After I got out of the shower sans appliance I just had a huge grin on my face. I think the big hint for me was using my blow dryer on low to seal the adhesives to my skin.  Thank you all for caring enough to offer help. It's been nice to not have to fool around with Stella so much this past week.  I am confident it will continue!  This site is a valuable resource.
