Blow into the pouch when u put it on.. really! Use some M-9 or other liquid lubes. smush this around before you attach the pouch- . Or just blow into it.. It wont get stuck right away and after the "deposite" comes through, it is self greased.. another recipe from Marcie............. :-) no bacon fat Robert---------- 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Barbara I think Marcie has a good idea with the lube . I put a little in mine every time I change the bag just to get started . Then every time I empty I put in a little more . Hope you are feeling better today . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis You Girls are getting pretty Philosophical there .......... Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis I've been thinking this is a good idea too. So I am working on giving it a try as we email. I'm doing a little bit better today. Disappointed yesterday with my visit with the my surgeon. He says that he would not want to do the surgery on me to either remove my rump stump or to remove the rest of my colon. He feels that it would be a life-threatening surgery for me. But he did not take it off the table he said that he wants to try some other things first and so we're going to try some other things first. However the very first thing we tried failed. When I was in the hospital the last time he put me on hydrocortisone suppositories and they worked but they only lasted for about 2 or 3 days after I came home. He said he was going to prescribe some more for me. so yesterday I talked to the pharmacy and I found out that the suppositories are not in my formulary and in fact are not in any formulary they can find and are not on any discount cards that they could find and that it would cost me about $450 a week. So I think idea number one is now off the table and I called him back today to have him figure out something else and we'll see what happens. Severe rheumatoid arthritis, spondoloarthropy, polymyalgia rhumatica, type 1 diabetic, IBS and finally, emergency diverticulitis surgery, colon removed Stella born Jan. 27, 2017. 6 bouts of c-diff, failed fecal transplant. Complete colonectomy and ileostomy July 30, 2018. ENOUGH!! Barbara would it be possible for the Doc to add them to your formulary so that they would be covered ? I'm sure you have thought about it already but . How bout a second opinion ? I agree $450 a week is not doable . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis edicare insurance--hopefully you have secondary insurance..When they wanted me on these expenisve shots 3 times a day = 900.00/per/3/months- and then the other shot = 300,000 -500,00 per year, Dr. said that they could give me the shot in the office once a month Maybe insurance will cover this- But would have been a horrible shot!!!!! tried it of a 3 day trial-hurt like hell- and didn't work so the next step was the more expensive ne.. NOPE. Barb. Maybe they can do this in the office once a week??? insurance paied?? ask about that.. but I would want answers of why--? When they did my surgery or removal to the colon, it was Got all my blood work sent over today-- got everything that he needs.. want to see a strburon Swead??? come on over-- Dec. 6th @ 9:30 am.. Hartford, Ct. take notes.... :-)   but try the meds u talked about performed IN the MEDICAL office.. check with you medicare- if u have secondary insurance that should be a breeze-- Make sure that they use the proper "CODE" for this.. We have to the home work for them.......... but this may work until you and your Dr. get things together.. HE knows you better than I or anyone here.. Best of luck Barb... Barb, is in a fighting mode????? you go girl!!! 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Robert and Marcie. Thanks for the pep talks you both know how I have a tendency to falter and step back sometimes and not stand up for myself. And I know I need to I know I need to take control and sometimes I'm not very good at it. When I call the doctor's office this morning he was in surgery today so I wasn't able to speak to him but he would try to call me back later on today if you can. I do have good insurance. When I was getting ready to retire I told my son Bryce that he needed to take care of getting the insurance for me he is a broker and he did a really good job and got me good insurance so I'm able to see the doctors that I want to see and all of that kind of stuff so I'm I'm very pleased with that. When I called the doctor's office this morning he was in surgery and is going to be late today but they would try to get him to call me back today if not today tomorrow. I asked them to have him call the insurance company I gave them all the information and how to get ahold of them and I asked that he tell them why it's necessary and see if he can get it okayed I've had them do that before on a couple of items. Said that if they couldn't do that if the insurance company would not put it on the formulary or make an exception for it that we needed to find something right away that we can use that will do the job as well. So at this point I'm waiting to hear back from him. I am not letting him take surgery off of the table. The one thing that he said yesterday that may be a problem is that he said that the problems with my rectal stump and with the rest of my colon don't match the criteria that they're supposed to follow for doing that kind of surgery. I hope that makes sense he said that doing the surgery would be outside of those parameters and that it could get him in trouble I'd be in trouble for kind of forcing him to do it. Don't know whether that's accurate or not but that's what he said. And I do trust him I never would have let him cut me open the first time if I didn't trust him. I have also had experience with the Medicare loophole where if a medication is administered in the doctor's office and has to be done that way then Medicare will pick up the coverage on it even though they don't usually pay for prescription drugs. That's the way my Remicade infusions work the Remicade cost in the neighborhood of 60 Grand a year so that is being picked up by Medicare.. I am going to get this problem worked out and I'm going to get it done so that it's to my advantage and is best for me and if that isn't strong enough language for me I don't know what else to say but that's what I'm going to do. Severe rheumatoid arthritis, spondoloarthropy, polymyalgia rhumatica, type 1 diabetic, IBS and finally, emergency diverticulitis surgery, colon removed Stella born Jan. 27, 2017. 6 bouts of c-diff, failed fecal transplant. Complete colonectomy and ileostomy July 30, 2018. ENOUGH!! Home soon, at least to mom and dad's. Need a little help. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 Home soon, at least to mom and dad's. Need a little help. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 Another step, God Bless. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Good Morning Barbara I'm glad to hear you son does what he does and was able to set you up with good insurance we all know how important that is . I actually do understand about the Doc being in surgery n they can't get ahold of him . My wife works with a doctor n when he's in surgery it can be hard to get ahold of him also . Hopefully he gets back with you today after he talks to insurance and he can get this worked out . I don't quite understand why your rectal stump n colon being in the shape they are doesn't meet their criteria for surgery . But you trust him n that is an important part . Like you said if you didn't you wouldn't have let him cut you the first time . But yes don't let him take surgery off the table at least as a last resort . Problem is sometimes it seems to take time to get things done in the medical field I guess with paper work n insurance n all . We can holler n scream all we want but isn't always the answer . I am glad you have the medicare to take care of the remicade . I know it can be very costly like you said 60 grand a year . It's like who can afford that ? That is why when I was getting remicade infusions I had to stop it was just to expensive . I hope the Doc gets back to you today early so you are not sitting waiting . I hate waiting like that . Keep us posted n I hope you are feeling ok today . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis Felicity that's great to hear you are getting out soon . It is definitely a good feeling just to get out of there . Are they still letting you eat solid food ? Get rest at Mom n Dads you can't get better care than from Mom n Dad . Don't rush the healing its gonna take awhile . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis One step more forward.. Your doing right going to Mom and Dads. As of I/we haven't heard much from you, I suppect your in a difficult time which you just don't want to move or even think much right now--healing is the hard part.. Like (oh yaaaaa, now I remember this--ouch!!) SO get the rest and sleep that you need there, The hospital's just done hack it for me.. More tired when I get home than ever thought I could be.. Just curl up and be comfortable.......... Not even a week yet, that should be a turning point small as it may be.. Sent u an e-mail of Mr. Poo--did u get it??? HE is such a pretty boy. Good with the tree too!! I think that it scares him.. Most everything does anyways........ "I want my mommy-daddy-oh--- al leaf just blew by--oh oh " 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Been a rough couple of days. Thursday they pulled my JP drain aka The Holy Hell Hand Grenade. This went into my abdomen to take out drainage. Looked like a hand grenade with a slim tube running in. They'd strip it once a day running through their fingers from my body to the bulb and then drain it. Then they would scrunch the air out and shut it so it would have suction going on. Oh did it ever suck... Friday they put me under to remove the urinary stent. Knocked me back for the day. I requested a little more time, got to be able to get up with a very little help. Moms balance is not good and poor dad has had more issues w his back. They mainly are to be pestering me to eat and drink. Today I woke and knew a career as a butt cheek hedgehog smuggler would not last long. The nurse just about lost it laughing when I groused about "Who thought sticking a small hedgehog between my ass was a good idea." "Those naughty drs did that." Thankfully the iv dilauded hit pretty quickly. Sat for a bit, drank my Gatorade and some coca cola. Got back into the bed because I get a better angle for my poor rectum (Rectum, darn near kilt em...) Noise is being made about going home Sunday now. That is fine by me. Mr Poo is a handsome looking fella and knows it. Selene is a bit more oriental in build, long legs skinny body and a little high cheeked wedge head. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 Sounds like a lot of Medical abuse went on down under girl!!!!!!!!! You had so much done, This may take longer to heal than perivously thought.. But that is o.k. Just add on anther 2-3 weeks at the end (no bun intended) --- These last few weeks are for enjoyment only-- Your suffered much-- Your Dad and Mom will enjoy taking care of their little girl!! This will keep their minds off their problems for a little time.. Mom's LOVE to care for their babies always.. Trust me !!!!!!!!!!! be prepared!! :-) Hope your trip home is comfortable.. Grab a pillow.......... Best always, and healthy healing. Marcie. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Sounding in good spirits, keep it up ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Oh Felicity I remember those drains (don't ever want them again) I know exactly what you mean about them . I had an upper n a lower one when Doc pulled the lower one I thought ok that wasn't to bad it was short . But when the nurse pulled the upper one out ( I had no idea how long it was going to be ) I must have come off the bed about 6 " . That was something I don't care to feel again . Sounds like you are still in there hopefully they do let you out Sunday . We all know you don't get rest in the hospital . Can't get much better nurses than Mom n Dad . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis Hey Felicity, Just wishing you a speedy and happy recovery! Good to be at home with the parents. I really commiserate about the drains and the removal of them . Such a weird feeling! Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Mr. Poo is long thin skinny legged (like me) tiny feet (not like me-lucky me I am a perfect 10)and his eyes have many shapes.. He was just ornery that I woke him up-- to smile for you--- He is getting on with years now--but still rather playful--has many toys (30) in his basket I have hidden behind a plant-- It is like pick-up sticks in the morning (remember that game??? ) The Grinch that stole Christmas is on at 9 tonight.. :-) Love that one.. The Hallmark channels suck!! Try to watch it if u can.. Your healing as we speak !!!!!!!!!!! Marcie.............. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie..
she proberly won't NOT make it-- as sick as I was, I did make it--the only chance I had..-------- and got better faster than they thought.. but everyone is different-- check out the meds performed at the Dr. office.. and while that is going on-get into face of Dr. to remove the stump if that is what u want--Patient knows when enough is enough!! Dr.'s don't.. You know if u can take it.. not their blood work and text books.. We r in a different situation.. Your stump may be infected or growing one as we speak.. u have been there the past month.. Another talk is proper.. Go and get into his face.. have him work WITH you and you WORK with him.. make a team.. be the boss for once.. Why life threating? WHY????? You seem to be up and about better than I thought that u would and better than I was for sure!! Leave the RA out of this.. that is different.. best of luck-- I am going to Upper GI and will stand my grounds now.. as my Dr. is back from surgery- after 8 weeks- doing 1/2 days..(proberly had a tooth extracted) :-)  :-(  ----- So he will be sitting in a chair and I WILL be STANDING UP !!
