Good conversation. This has answered many questions and brought up new lines for discussion. As I said in my previous post on this thread, I still have my rectal stump ( no colon.. that I know of). I had UC and my doctors said leaving the stump was an easier surgery and whatever was left would help support the 'pelvic floor' So.. four years on.. Just the mucus discharge every now and then. No problem. Not bad enough for suppositories. Also, I get scoped every year ( now lengthened to 18 months..whoo-hoo!!). I get these with SEDATION! Not painful. I can see if you have a unused J-pouch with pouchitis removal would be a really good idea. Also moving your stoma to a better place. The rest of it ( well , all of it) is up to you and your doctors. There is always something to be said for just getting it done and getting on with it. We are all pulling for you ,Prairiegirl. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012.
