Today I checked the set of spares I carry in my purse and found that the packet of Adapt lubricant had gotten squished and had leaked onto the pouch, barrier ring and plate. So, a word of caution. I keep a little bottle of M9 drops and a little bottle of water in one ziploc bag, and the pouch, ring and plate in another, tucking everything into one of the gray disposal bags - and put the disposal bag into a ziploc bag; I end up with just one small ziploc bag in my purse, and it works well. Not sure why I put the packet of Adapt in with the pouch, ring and plate, but I won’t do that again. I actually don’t use Adapt that much but have a box of individual packets so just tossed one in there. Very happy that I found this out while I was just checking/rotating, as the pouch got soaked and the lubricant got into the ring container. Right now I am wiping them off and drying them out, and will use them at home. Colostomy 4/30/18. Thanks for the reminder! I opened my spares kit after reading your post and realized that 1. it was a flat wafer, and 2. it was cut to the wrong size, as my stoma has grown a bit in the last few years. Restocked my wheelchair spares and my car glove-box spares this eveing. Retired engineer, now goatherd I’m so glad you posted this! I needed a reminder! And I love your packaging system. I would really like to hear any other suggestions from everyone on to-go kits! 54 years Type 1 Diabetes, insulin pump, CGM, neurological complications, retinopathy, and autoimmune CIDP. Nerve damage led to ileostomy in 1/2015. Great reminder! And while everyone is checking their set of ostomy spares, be sure to go through any first aid kits you may have to make sure everything is "fresh" :) Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @veganostomy Yeah, I was using a generic antibiotic cream that had expired 5 years ago! Fixed that quick... Retired engineer, now goatherd @jattzl My go to case is a parts box, with everything sorted. I can keep a full month of supplies, and if I need to leave the farm quick in an emergency, I just grab it and go! Retired engineer, now goatherd @goatherder wow I'm impressed! I have a small bathroom travel bag as my grab and go but nothing divided or organized like you and @llholiday. I also have equal amounts of diabetes pump and CGM supplies and medications. it's a challenge. Living in AZ adds to the issue. In the winter I can leave it in the car but half the year I either need a cool chest or carry my to go bag everywhere I go. 😣 thank you for ideas! 54 years Type 1 Diabetes, insulin pump, CGM, neurological complications, retinopathy, and autoimmune CIDP. Nerve damage led to ileostomy in 1/2015. Just thought of something - I am going to just wrap the gray disposal bag around the two ziplocs, which will make it easier to get at just the little bottles of water and M9, for when I am going to justempty and not change. So, I’ll put the disposal bag, wrapped around the two ziploc bags (one iwth the two bottles, the other with the folded pouch, plate and barrier ring) , into the ziplog bag that goes into my purse or bag. It is small, discreet, fits neatly and flexibly into my purse. …. All these little details that can make ostomate life a little easier. Colostomy 4/30/18.
