Okay, I'm trying new stuff regularly, because...you know.  This is a lifestyle change.

I invested in biodegradable liners for my two piece new image Hollister system...from Colo-Majik (not all liners from different manufacturers are biodegradable).  I'm getting some Cottonelle Fresh Care Flushable Wet Wipes to replace my Equate flushable wipes tomorrow.  The fragrance free Equate wipes work well on the inside of the wafer and were easy to flush (with no stoma or adhesive issues for me)...then I read the fine print about flush ability.  That's why I'm going to give Cottonelle a try.  They breakdown immediately in water.

I have a low output, high viscosity output stoma.  We apparently are all different, so what I do may not work for everyone. And, I may change it up again soon, too!  Who knows?

I was rinsing my bag to flush it, but the bag always looked a mess after...even with the rinse.  And, the frequent pancaking really wasn't getting addressed as well as I would like.

-- I change my liner two or three times a day depending on output.  While standing in front of the toilet I  detach the pouch from the Hollister wafer, and the filled liner is easily lifted out of the pouch.   It gets flushed.

-- With the bag off, I have access to the inside of the wafer, and wipe it down with the flushable wipes.

--Having already put a liner in a fresh bag, I add lubricating deodorant inside the liner (already inside the Hollister bag.)

-- I attach the new pouch, save the old pouch for adding a new liner to later and wash my hands...and off I go.

I only keep the pouch for a few days, and dispose of it.  I mark each pouch when it's used.

I spend way less time in the bathroom than prior to my ostomy.

I always loved using wipes as it made things just feel cleaner. I found that they started putting extracts like calendula etc. aloe and glycerin and sometimes vitamin e and silicones which would be any ingredient ending with the letters O N E . All these things affect my seal and are a slippery substance . I have yet to find a wipe anymore that does not contain these things. The closet I found that I can use are from the target brand fragrance free but even those have something so I started rinsing them with water before using. They are baby wipes and cannot be flushed but I wrap them in my gloves and throw in garbage can. I am currently back to using just a wet paper towel and trashing it.

I learned from a plumber that no wipe is flushable even if it says on the package. That is when I started just throwing them in the trash after.

Thanks for sharing your method, @oldguy.

There are a lot of people using those liners, but use caution when flushing them as they don't break down quickly enough for municipal water treatment plants:  https://www.veganostomy.ca/are-pouch-liner-flushable/

No, unfortunately.

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.
