Here I hadn,t noticed that, yep I prefer it this way :-) , on the Great Bag Debate we have seem to have 2 shades ie clear or beige. clear so the output and stoma can be observed beige to blend in with Caucasian skin colour (I think) but what about an ostomate with a different skin tone? May be their are appliances out their to suit! Now that I have said this mind has a white weave over it. but still they are supposed to blend in. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns I am good with the new symbol after all it looks like a light bulb and I am an Electrician ! Lol . Ye are right John I guess they would be little Joey's Lol ! Good point there Lad I use the beige if my shirt was to raise up I would rather people see beige instead of clear . And John you say yours has a white weave and Marcie yours are gray . Now I'm wondering are there different colors like John said for different skin tones ? I guess the same would go for the barrier , flange or wafer ? And hey Bag Lady JK good one . Margaret welcome to the group . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis That's right had forgot about grey, Robert ye need to go back and look at that light bulb its gone out!! lol. I usually where dark colours (Spelt the right way lol) but when I wear a white shirt my bag still shows. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Hey there John right ye are Lad the light bulb is out but I'm retired I could refer someone to change it though ! Lol . I wear different colours haha for you in the English speaking world but color here in US Lol . You made me check . Lol . You are keeping me guessing Lad . Ha . I wear shirts that are a little thicker just to help it blend in a little better . But yes if its thin and white it shows . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis Robert, and John.. Lets face it, We do have a choice and I think the companies try to adjust to everyone's skin color the best they can. At least we got that much being Ostomates. The clear is NOT for me.. Kinda makes the insult change to our bodies even more depressing.. As emptying for up to 15 plus a day I have seen enough!! You don't know how happy I was when I found out the clear pouches, dress's, bags, accessories, they put on me in the hospital was not the normal !! Not that I am doing cartwheels over here with the colors--but such a ease to me that dressing myself everyday, I don't get that bla feeling with the clear.. But to each their own.. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Apart from the Mio, Salts has colored bags in their "BE" line. It would be nice if patients had more options. Costs is always a factor, I'm sure. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Since almost no one has true black or white skin, they would do better to make a couple of shades of brown. I use the 'tan' that looks like bandaid color .. the old 'flesh' color of crayons! They should actually take a look at real people! Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Since almost no one has true black or white skin, they would do better to make a couple of shades of brown. I use the 'tan' that looks like bandaid color .. the old 'flesh' color of crayons! I'm sure the reasoning all boils down to cost. If it didn't cost any more to have multiple shades, there would be no reason not to. It might also have to do with the fact that it is a medical appliance and it's maybe easier for nurses to work with white tape bordered appliances instead of matched skin tones... who knows? It's an interesting topic that I may have to explore ;) Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.
