Hello everyone, it has been a few years since I last posted, and I apologize if I am not using the proper site BUT I am very excited about a new product. I follow a young woman on YouTube and she has had a terrible time of it since her childhood with health issues and still does for that matter and subsequently has had had an ostomy for several years now.

I was watching her latest video today and she was applying an OSTOFORM SEAL WITH FLOW ASSIST, which grabbed my attention immediately as it seems to me to be the total answer to my problem of leaking and subsequent skin excoriation. The product is of course a seal but has an attached piece of plastic which helps funnels the excrement into the pouch. Apparently this seal can be used with convex flanges as well as flat ones. What a wonder this is to me as I use a deep convex flange because my stoma hardly peeks out. There was a link on her comments to request a sample and I tried to order a sample and there was no way to proceed to obtain it. I understand it is a Coloplast item but there is no way to order it in Canada at the present time that I am aware of. I would really like to know if anyone else has heard of this product or been fortunate enough to try it and what their experience was or has been.

Hope you all have a great rest of the summer.?

Interesting product.

Looks like the company is based in Ireland, but it might be worth a shot to see if they can point you to a Canadian supplier or to get samples: https://ostoform.com/row/contact/

Hi Navey, I looked up a few details about the company, looks like they attended the Ostomy association of America last week, so I would say they would be very interested to hear of your interest. Also they seem to be a small growing company so they will be more personal and keen to help.

Every success ??

Hi Eric, I followed your suggestion and emailed the site and it came up with all the affirmative comments it had received from customers. It also had a designated spot to contact them directly which I attempted to do, same thing as trying to obtain samples from the various vendors of the product - just a continuous search loop which never ends. This  was my contact attempt:

I live in the Province of Ontario in Canada and have been reading about the new seal with flow assist online and also watching videos on YouTube. I use a deep convex flange because my stoma does not protrude very much. I have tried multiple online sites that offer a Sample of this product but have been unable to obtain a sample from any site advertising it. The seal sounds like an answer to my problem of leaking and skin excoriation and I would really appreciate receiving a sample of the product. Also will your company be providing access to Canadian distributors in the near future?
Thank you for the opportunity to address this matter.

You were right they are located in Ireland.

Thanks again for your help in this matter.?‍♀️

@navey I was able to send them a message through their contact form with a confirmation that it was received. I'll let you know what they say. I asked specifically about availability in Canada. ?

thanks so much ?you will hear from them. The form wouldn’t connect for me just kept looping around.

FYI: "Unfortunately, it is not available in Canada just yet. However, we are working to find a suitable distribution partner and hope it will be available in the coming months."

They said that will keep my info on file and will let me know when there's an update. ?

If the form still doesn't work, you can email them directly at info@ostoform.com, which should work 100%.

I saw Maggie Tretton demonstrate something very similar (or even the same?) on Youtube. She's in the US so she might help you find a way to get it to you. She has a link under the video where you can request a free sample. Don't know if that'll work for Canada however...

Salts also makes a similar product:

Are they available where you are?

@cat-momma That's a "stoma collar" and they should be more readily available, although, I can't say that the two products work in exactly the same way.

I do have an article about them that could help.

Hi Eric:

I didn’t think my email to Ostoform went through but obviously it was received as I

Just received an email response which I received this morning from Ostoform, it reads as follows:

Thank you for your interest in

Unfortunately, it is not available in Canada just yet. However, we are working to find a suitable distribution partner and hope it will be available in the coming months. I will keep your details on file, and let you know as soon as we have any updates. Please let me know if you have any recommendations on distributors we should work with.

We now have a definitive answer to our question and I for one am looking forward to a reply from Ostoform in due course.??

@navey Maybe you could try to contact them again for a sample and offer to pay for shipping? Unless that gets insanely expensive of course... That way, you could at least try the product and see if it will be worth the wait.

@cat-momma Thanks for your suggestions. I did start to place an order with them directly for one and the cost in Euros was 6.99 for the seal and 23.99 for shipping.  Needless to say I did not complete the order. Will have to be patient until the seal is available in Canada for trial.?

I see we have an infinity for cats.
