Had to go to ER again Friday morning. Slight bleeding from Stoma. Had xray and blood work and everything was fine. This happened a month ago as well. I had constipation this time and had to take 1 dose of Miralax for 3 days. On 3rd day, finally things were happening, but it got stuck at opening of Stoma. Stayed that way for hours. I had to manually get it out, then normal output began. Same thing a month ago. Will NOT do that again!! Since my emergency colon resection surgery in March, developed heart problems...so now on heart med and have a Cardiologist. See her in December. I have been incredibly stressed since the Surgery and I am on valium....1 a day of the lowest dose. It does help, but some stress still remains. I am eating more of a variety of foods now. Rather then look up what I can and can't eat, which was a big stress for me, I eat what I want in small portions and it serns to work well. All that has happened to me leaves me anxious and tearful at times and getting it under control had been a battle. I completely empathize, @jillian. Those setbacks can feel like ten steps back. Is this constipation something that happens oftwn, or was it only the two times? If this happens often, where it feels like you have a blockage, I would speak with your stoma nurse or doctor to make sure that nothing else is going on. Eating smaller portions is a good idea, and I'm glad that you aren't being restrictive with food variety. Hang in there and take things one thing at a time. ? Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. @veganostomy No, no blockage. The output today was horrendous though. Had very slight bleeding again during the heavy output. I know that a lot of stress plays a part... for me personally. I am going to make an appointment tomorrow with my Colon doctor..to be safe and my primary doctor has sent paper work to the company that had a nurse come out once a week when I came home from my surgery in March. She will be my Stoma Nurse. She was excellent. I thought I could handle things on my own. Big mistake! So having a Stoma Nurse will certainly put me at ease. Thank you so much for your support! So appreciated!! @jillian I am so sorry that you’re going through so much right now. I hope you can get some answers soon. Hang in there! Laurie Just a semicolon Good Morning Jillian, I am sorry to hear of your struggles and hope you find solutions that work for you soon. Take care of yourself best you can in all ways, lots of positive energy coming your way. cygo cygo Hi Jillian, One suggestion is to take Miralax everyday. At my doctors' orders, I take a half the Miralax dose, approx. 1 teaspoon, everyday. On occasion, I have some bleeding but it's usually when I have a large amount of output and my stoma has been very active.
