Hi,

Drives me nuts that bags are a good inch taller than the barrier and what they seem to need to be.

Coloplast filter is in this space, but even the Coloplast non filter bags still have the extra space at top of bag.

Is there a reason for this and I just do not see it?

I know it is a minor detail.

Speaking of filters, they so far are fairly useless in my limited experience ( approx 1  month ).

Have a good day.

Without actually knowing why manufacturers do this, my guess is that it saves them money. Have one bag design, and then add a filter to it, instead of a different design per bag.

In addition to what I wrote above, I think that this extra space has an indirect benefit of helping to give thick stool a place to go when it can't drop down to the bottom of the bag right away.

Yup. Most people will find that filters either don't work at all, or they work for a very short period of time.

I agree with your thinking, one bag production line is cheaper than two.

But really would like them to rethink this, as well as the bag colors, too bad the SALTS black bag are not available in the USA.  I would be all over that.

Wonder if one could use fabric dye on the bag "cloth", I might try that.

:)

That sounds like a really interesting idea! If you do it, please post photos of the results! 😄

Hi, I never heard of SALTS until your post so did a little research. Looks like a great product if it can prevent pancaking which is my problem. It's surprising that something similar in design is not available outside of the UK.

If anyone knows of a USA supplier, please let us know.

Hi,

I spoke to Coloplast and currently they  have not plans to have additional bag colors. :(

They are going to email me the fabric content of the textile portion of their MIO line bags.

The fabric content will determine if they can be dyed or not or if maybe a fabric paint would work better, like silk paints.

Have a good day.

@cygo Disappointing (and expected), but I hope the textile info at least points you in the right direction. If dying is easy, this could be a really cool idea!!

Keep us posted.

Bag textlie is probably synthetic,  i've written in pen and marker the date of application but normally when it comes time to replace bag date has worn off textile

Why wait for coloplast, do some experimenting on your own.

The height above stoma is probably there so the bag can expand while filing. Accordian bellows.

Hi

They Coloplast Mio line bags are a polyester.

I haven’t had time to try to dye one yet but I did use a sharpie on one.

photo is after 1 shower.

Be aware the color bleeds onto your towels after shower and right after initial application of ink.  I used old rag to soak up excess ink.

This may be obvious to everyone, but I just realized that with a two piece system I can attach my bag more horizontally so it doesn’t ride high or hang uncomfortably in-between my legs. I can’t believe it literally took me 2 months to figure this out.

I have a colostomy with pretty predictable output, so I can adjust it when needed for poo baby time.

I would LOVE it if the big companies partnered with designers for cool printed bags. I’d definitely sport a Marrimeko (sp?) bag for my Scandinavian side. 😊

Here’s a crazy idea… I wonder if bags could be cut and then resealed in a food saver machine….

I’m gonna see what happens after the next Costco run. 😊

yes elle d , thats basically how bags are made.

with the sensura bag i can attach one velcro dot and fold the bag up making it half the length.  horizontal bags make no sense to me?

Wow! Blue works really well for those bags! I'd be interested to know how much they fade with subsequent showers, but even faded blue would look better than "bandage beige"! 😂
