Life and work has kept him away from the forum for awhile, but for those that pray, please say one for @ileostony who  has been in hospital for over a week now. (He just came home this evening, but has a long recovery ahead)

Tony went to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain. His gall bladder was infected and full of stones.

That surgery went well, but while recovering from it, he developed a massive blockage in his small intestine that required emergency surgery. It's been a very rough several days, and he is in a great deal of pain.

He's happy to get all the prayers he can get right now. His wife will be his caregiver until he fully recovers, a huge job as you know!

Update note from Tony this morning:

"Feeling better today. Was able to eat a full breakfast without serious cramping for the first time in more than two weeks. My wife was thrilled, and I was kinda shocked. Even had coffee. No nausea either."

Wonderful news!

Greetings all,

I was in the hospital for a bit over two weeks and went home. We all thought I was ready. We all were wrong. I spent six days at home doing my best to endure the continuing pain  and nausea, chalking it up to the normal struggles of recovery at home, but then the symptoms escalated to unbearable levels, and I had to go back to the ER. I was diagnosed with a partial obstruction and had to endure several days of an NG tube and all its attendant discomfort in addition to the pain and nausea I had been suffering for so many weeks. Things have gotten better. My belly distension has gone down, the obstruction subsiding. I spent about 9 more days in the hospital before going back home improved from   the first discharge. I still have some cramping  and queasiness but nothing like before, and I feel much better.

Thank you for your prayers, thoughts, and kind words. Thank you to @goatherder for so kindly letting the VO community know of my plight and asking for prayers.

I'm on the mend now.

Tony

Tony!! Welcome Home!!

I'm so glad to hear this news but feel for you not having it all resolved yet.  I will continue to pray this passes for you as well. I'm sure your family was very pleased to have you home again.

Don't give up a fight for total pain relief.    After my recent 6 week, plus a total of 3  weeks previous with partial stays, I was so relieved to have all that pain resolved even though it means regular meds to control it.   I don't miss the agony that's for sure!

May God Bless you as you heal!

Linda
