I believe anti fungal is only useful if the rash is a yeast infection usually very itchy and raised little bumps in Canada can be treated with difucan otc oral med.  the other items you mention I am not familiar with are they for fungal or irritating rash from exposure to gastric acid from leaks  or allergic response? Hi Shawne, I have mentioned this on another thread ( can't find), so I hope I am not repeating myself , too much at least. But, have you seen an actual dermatologist? An M.D who specializes in skin. I don't know how it goes in the UK or how fast you could get referred, but that might be your best approach. I went with a nasty rash that had spread from the area just next to my wafer to near my stoma. I thought it was fungus, but the doctor said eczema and prescribed a kind of foamy stuff that worked great EVEN UNDER THE WAFER. It was not greasy. Take samples of all the stuff you use ( including the wafer, bag, rings etc) when you go see the doctor. Mine really didn't understand the issue until I showed him the stuff. We took everything out of the wrappers so he could actually see and feel everything. Good luck.. this kind of stuff is frustrating. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Dona, what is the name of this foam? I also, as you have delt with this type of rash.. Some Dr. just don't get it when we try to tell them.. and The time you got for this was nice.. And with this foam? could u wear the wafer without having to wash it off? and all stuck?? Thanks for the info. M. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Unfortunately this province is without a dermatologist as the last one passed away will have to travel to another province.  Am able to control the rash using the cortisone it is just not a good solution running out of products to try. Thanks for your input as it is only under the wafer and in the shape of it do not think it is an eczema but who am I lol Hi yes, I agree ( but I am NOT a doctor) that it sounds more like some kind of contact dermatitis or fungus. Marcie, The prescription foam is a topical medication and is called : Olux-E (clobetasol propionate Foam , o.05%) Emulsion formulation made by Prestium Pharma  ( Thats what it says on the label). It goes on foamy but dried quickly and seemingly leaves no residue. Onset of severe Ulcerative Colitus Oct.2012. Subtotal colectomy with illiostomy July 2015; Peristomal hernia repair ( Sugarbaker, mesh, laparoscopic) May 2017. Thank you Dona, must be the most orgonized-sp- person here!! (except Eric) I do remember this info a bit go.. And I did write it down--all I have is a note/folder with all of the info I get on this blog and what a mess!! Shape it up after the holidays!! Shawne, What your doing is about what I did when I had posion ivy around and under my wafer.. But I did have to change the wafer every other day-- If you have the sting free adhesive (alcohol free) SPRAY remover I strongly suggest that-as Mr. "Z" stated rubbing and wiping the area is making things worse. I feel for you!! But there is a way around this.. The nurses know much, but they don't really know what we are going through and WE here can try to help you through this.. Even if it love and understanding...... Also, I used a nice cold wet wash cloth to give me and Nellie (my stoma) a feeling of ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :-) A shower with out the wafer/pouching system is good-it is gentle.. Make sure that you have a clean wash cloth in the shower if you stoma starts to sing like my Nellie does during grace at nice dinners etc. She loves to sing.. Lots of work goes into this I know, but only soft tissues, and wash cloths are permitted here... p.s. r u in a hot climate? sweat much? this does not help matters at all when your dealing with any kind of a rash.. So, as the above--Your wellness towards you from us and we are trying to help you along.. IF you can see your MD.. Something of anti-b could help u along also, I got that with the posion ivy.. Maybe give them a good view of this rash--at least u can get pitty.. :-) and maybe the anit-b's.. seeing is believing at times.. We can talk the talk, but reality? is show and tell time.. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!! and always best.. M. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Hi Shawne, been reading through the posts and I have to agree with Dona, the best route it a dermatologist, The longer it goes on the more problems its going to cause. some of the creams/lotions you are using may be soothing but not getting to the source of the problem. I know you said your area is without one at the moment but some where you have to find one. Sorry kid I some times feel bad about being direct and saying oh this is what you should do!! but that's what I feel is your best way. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Will discuss with family Dr. If it is an allergy to the adhesive used in wafers I cannot see what a solution would be. For sure I need to use something so the only thing that works is to treat the symptoms as they appear or use the calamine before applying the appliance. Not sure what a dermatologist would contribute other than a product to treat the rash which is not really itchy more redness and prickly heat. Or a product to protect the skin beforehand which might be the calamine. Hi Shawne, yep I get where your coming from, an expert may be able to pinpoint what you are reacting too, ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns An M.D. has studied everything.. Some went into a special area. AS for me, If I get back into a bad issue, I will take the information that Dona gave to me (us) and see if she/he can order it for me.. Just show them your area, take the waffer off and let them see-your words or ours really cannot describe what we are suffering.. They can see if there is more than one type of rash that your dealing with.. Just take in a change of supplies and it is show and tell time.. And make sure that they just let it go as "how about changing to a different product?" Hellooo?? You need the help now, and hopefully they can give you something to get you pulled through until you see that special Dr. What else can u do???????? You need a Dr.'s help now.. I hope your not using anything with alcohol !!!!!!!! And maybe u should stop using the powders etc. and just have the wafer on???? I feel so bad for you!!! Sure can make one cranky huh??????? Also, wear a belt so your pouch is not pulling at the skin.. Got to Armor up huh? You will get there!!!!!!!! M. 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Yes I tuck some paper towels in my undies to catch anything but thankfully I do as soon as I wake up and Bubbles is still sleeping . I set a timer for 15 min of air time as I fan stoma area with a piece of cardboard. While I am air drying I am getting everything lined up for application . Times goes by fast . For the record, I'm pretty sure I've done this for at least an hour a few times! LOL It's amazing how much healing the skin can do with just a little time - it can go from weepy and raw to "glazed over" with the beginning stages of healthy skin. But in general, I don't play games with stuff like potential yeast or fungal infections - if I believe that's what's happening, I'd see a dermatologist right away. Some skin issues can spiral out of control fast! Just your friendly neighbourhood ostomate. Thanks Marcie for your encouragement will take your words to heart. Have of course tried to use the wafer as is that cannot be done although at first for the first couple weeks with this brand I thought I had it beat but then the prickly heat feeling started so had to use the calimine.  I personally feel it all has to do with the fact my adrenals do not work up to par they produce cortisol that control how your body reacts this is why if I have a infection or some type of stress to deal with it has to be increased for a few days.  Anyhow life goes on.  Hope everyone has a great Christmas for those who celebrate that day and a great New Year. STRESS my dear Shawne--may be the key to making this go hay wire.. R u using a full seal ring? if so, I found I cut it in half--roll it--press it into shape on top of wafer, makes a pillow affect. There fore, I DO NOT have the full seal ring to irritate my skin.. Sure made a difference for me!! No more rash.. Maybe a few depending on what I eat. Stay away from tomatoes. acid foods..!!!!!! while your healing.. My moto is "in life think twice"-if I can.. :-) :-(  then there are time I don't think twice..) I feel what we eat that can give us heart burn gives us rash's.. We r just a bit-- inside out type of people.. What ever trick we can figure out I/we will try!! Stay away from the acids foods. drinks.. May not cure this, but may help a lot!! Hit the egg nog!!!!!!!!!!! :-) 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie..
