I had a Sugarbaker repair last month and it seems to have gone well, but my stoma "Squiggy" is a LOT smaller than it used to be and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My doctor didn't seem concerned but I'm wondering if it's going to stay small. It used to be 45 mm (pre-hernia) and now it's only 20 mm! It's not really a big deal, except I have to get new barriers. In the meantime, does anyone know a way to make a 45 barrier fit a 20 stoma? Any suggestions/advice/experience is appreciated! With Squiggy since 3/31/21 It used to be 45 mm (pre-hernia) and now it's only 20 mm! I'm wondering whether 20mm is the "right" size for your stoma, and it being 45mm before was a symptom of your hernia. That said, as long as it's working fine, I also wouldn't worry about it =) Is your 45mm barrier a cut-to-fit or pre-cut? Either way, you should be able to measure your stoma and cut the hole by hand. The wafer being larger isn't a bad thing, if you find it comfortable. It may actually be desirable since it gives more surface area for the adhesive to work with. Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Mine is a little less than 20 mm. Maybe 18. Darn, just a bit too small for my wafer precuts. No issues with it. Things seem to pass fine. Mostly liquid so size doesn't matter. I do get a little tickle now and then when some solid bits go through. Why? Those sound like adorable little stomas to me. My Ruby is a robust girl; the surgeon said she is “one good-looking stoma.” Looks aren’t everything, of course! Colostomy 4/30/18.
