Anyone help, I had a latte yesterday and am suffering terrible today. Inflammation pain behind and around stoma. This happens sometimes after ice cream as well. Trouble is it can last 2days and feels like cystitis in the stoma.always drink lots of water etc but no joy. Any ideas know I probably shouldn't have had it but why does it irriate so much! And now that it's there what's the best way to deal with it. I had ileoastomy in May

Hi Marie,

Welcome to the forums. I'm sorry that you're in pain.

Firstly, any time there's pain like that, I would prefer that someone see their health care professional.

You mentioned latte and ice cream. Do these pains happen with dairy or any other foods?

Is the pain under your wafer or actually behind your stoma (under the skin)? Sometimes we get pains like that when there's a blockage, but I wouldn't expect a latte or ice cream to cause a blockage.

Why did you have surgery? Could these pains be related to your underlying condition?

Hi it seems to happen sometimes after I have caffeine or ice cream it's behind and around stoma. Had part of Colin removed in May floppy bowel but this pain still comes back in the same place if I eat wrong foods doesn't go for few days. I'm meeting surgeon nxt Friday, haven't seen him couple months. Going to have good talk with him. I think there's something up with ileocal valve. This was happening before the surgery Anyway I hope he listens cause he needs to fix it. Debilitating. Thanks for listening . Will see what he has to say

Good luck with your appointment. There can be so many reasons for this, so I hope that your doctor investigates it further.
