That's a cracking idea about soaking the nuts, I will eat a few but only one or two. any tips on coconut cos that's the one I really steer clear of.

I agree, great idea. I'm gonna give that a shot tonight.Β  I'd love to be able to get some almonds in me more often, they're good for my blood glucose levels.Β  Thanks Eric!

Coconuts are going to be difficult for anyone. Β I've heard of people having blockages from macaroons, so I would use caution.Β

Yeah Coconut I heard is super hard on the bowels . I won't take a chance . I tell you if you ever have the deadly experience of a major bowel blockage you will do everything to avoid Β that again . My bowel even necrosed from it . Horrible horrible experience. Please be careful of what you eat .

Hey Tony yes the nuts are why I haven't had one and they used to be my favorite . I have had some almonds or peanuts but only a couple at a time and yes chewed really well . The Mexican food to me the hotter the better after all don't have to worry about the butt burn anymore ! Lol .

Eric does soaking the nuts change the flavor of them ? Do you add salt before eating them after soaking them ?

John, coconut has a nice oil for skin. Your wife must have great skin!! I eat some coconut cookies.Β  The Easter eggs type of coconut is really bad!! Thick and hard and way to much for us.. or for anyone..Β  But tasty!! I eat candies with nuts in them.. I stray away from the whole nuts tho.. Why bother asking for problems??Β

I was told I could gain weight eating coconut etc. Nope!! I hate coconut water!!!!!!!!Β

It does give it a different texture and slightly different taste, so I'd say it's unique compared to eating the nuts in their dry form.Β

I don't tend to eat many soaked nuts anymore (I prefer them as is), but I normally would not add any salt or anything extra to them.Β

One other benefit to soaking nuts is that it helps to reduce their phytic acid content, which can bind to certain nutrients and prevent them from being used by the body.Β

I just read this forum on weight and I am embarrassed .Β

I was raised to be obese. Mom survived WW2's concentration camps. The hunger was horrible. Yet , she survived. When I was born,Β  her friend saw me fussing and told her that she wasn't in the Camps anymore,Β  and that I need to eat . At 13, I was 160 lbs. Big!

My high weight was 275. Before I was ill with the liver and my low was 185 after the rectal removal and Ostomy. For a long time I was steady at 240.Β

Now, my cardiologist diagnosed aortic stenosis and is forcing me to lose weight. In a week,Β  IΒ  dropped 10 lbs .tonight 247.2 lbs. The big deal is the blood pressure which has skyrocketed. It will take a while to normalize.

Basically,Β  my body is trying to find its happy weight. Yoyoing is not good.

In reflection, when my intestines lost 150+ cm , my mind said "EAT". Now, i can be calmer about it and regain control that was lost.

I talk too much , but you listen well.

Best of luck losing the weight, Z! Yoyo diets are really bad, so I hope you're able to find and stick with something more long-term and consistent! Β

Good Morning Z

If you don't mind me asking . How tall are you ? I have a brother who has always been big too weighing in at 240+ but he is 6'2" and carries it well just always a big guy . Although seems like no matter what we do Doctors always tell us we need to lose weightΒ . Z is the aortic stenosis something that would possibly led to a stent ? Sounds like your starting good with the weight loss . Good luck with it n hang in there .

Yay I have gained 3 pounds in 2 weeks . Eating like a pig around 3k calories a day . I got down to 88 pounds 😢😢😢😢. I want to get to 110 that's my regular weight . I am tiny so that's right for me .Β

I added two shakes a day that I make with 1 cup Milk , 1/2 banana, 1/4 dry oats, Whey Protein powder , 2 tbs peanut butter, and 1 tablespoon Nestles chocolate quick. This helps me get calories in . Drinking calories is easier than eating them .

pretty soon I'll have some junk in the trunk 😝😝😝😝

be well , BubblesΒ

I decided last week not to go to infusion 3 times a week for my fluids.. I see this week (as I did not go 3 times a week=2 times a week) My mag is so low!! in just one week..Β  I need it more than I hoped.. From going healthy and feeling great to this, is beyond any expations of real life.. I am in a fight here, hopefully I can gain some weight soon.. and keep slat fluids!!!!!

Marcie since you have a permanent port why don't you do TPN for your nutrition. You can still eat but this will feed your body better . I have Β a friend that does this . He feeds himself at night while he sleeps .Β

That was suggested last year.. When I went into malnutrition and dehydration.. Very expensive and complated due to the fact that at infusion they don't do that there, and this has to beΒ  mixed up away from home and delivered to my house, right away- and a nurse has to come every week...... to change in insert of the power port..Β  (yourΒ  a pretty smart gal remembering my port) And most home nurses don't get involved with power ports.-as for infection. InfactΒ  the nurse's in the hospitals wont get involved with them either.. Have to have a specialist attend to it. TPN would be daily and slow, along with my infusion that I would have to do myself-also which I have done.. So, I decided to bring myself out of this and now left with just good 'ol dehydration. :-) I really thought being 3.5 years now, I would have seen a better out come.. Even being so sick and deaths, I have somehowΒ  managed to bring myself up to this stupid level. :-( But it is success. ? I feel so lost and confused and disappointed at times. Truth being, I never should have gone 2 weeks with just 2 days of infusions.. I am flat out....... But just took a chance of experiment to see what would happen.. Now I know..Β I am no good on my own........... :-) :-( Β  Β  Β  Thanks Bubbles. M.

Dear Robert,Β

In my yout, I reached a height of 5'11.5". Now, I claim 5'9.5". My BMI is presently 37+. When I was just after my last operation,Β  it was 24.8.Β

Sometimes, I feel like a yoyo. But, so long as i hang onto the string , i am not lost.Β

Today, 248.2. It is getting tougher.Β

Anyway,Β  I am walking my walk and talking my talk.Β

My daughter in law lost 98 lbs over two years , so I am doing the right way. And not sweating any lack of progress.

I think that I might open a new forum titled "my present health" or "where I am now, healthwise". What's your opinion?Β

How about " Mr.Z 's weight winners group"Β

something along those lines . So it can be weight losers or weight gainers . We can cheer each other on and be accountable .Β
