Hi Gang , How long did it take for you to re-gain you Pre- Surgery weight ? How much did you loose and how long did it take to come back?  Be well , Bubbles 🤗🤗 135/ 140 is my typical range. I dropped to 107 for my first admission of this journey 6 or so months ago. I regained to 120 before my admission in November for my proctocolectomy+ surgery. I stayed stuck 115/ 120 lbs from December until this month. Currently 127 lbs. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 Hey Bubbles pre surgery I lost about 45-50 lbs , post surgery I gauned very little in the hospital but I think that was due to poor food the dietician in the hospital basically told me to try all foods in small ammounts to atart with and go from there , sh also told me to eat white bread not brown and snack often , chew everything well that was really important , Back to the main question it took me about 4-6 months to get back to a healthy weight ie.about 170  . Now im over 190 so I have to start behaving now. Also, food wise I've been on a see food diet. See it, eat it. Basically whatever I feel most hunger for. Reigning that in and trying for lower fat, better protein now. Weighed this morning, 129 lbs :) Closer to my goal range. Crohn's Colitis, Ilieostomy, Proctocolectomy November 2017 My normal weight pre-surgery was about 180 lbs, I was down in the high 150's when I had surgery. It didn't take me long to put weight back on, I'd say a couple of months and I was back to normal. I was kinda on that "see food diet" as well for a while. I'm actually trying to lose a little weight now at the beginning of the year I was pushing 200 lbs, currently a little under 190. UC since 2002, subtotal colectomy Dec. 2016, proctolectomy Nov. 2018. love that "see food diet" Felicity , I think I was on that as well , but to be honest I went from watching everything I was eating to basically after testing , eating everything , most would be considered unhealthy , the thing that I still can't get used to is eating lots of salt instead of sparing its use . My weight history: Approx. 9 months before surgery: 121 lbs. Approx. 1 months before surgery: 139 lbs. Approx. 1 week AFTER surgery: 121 lbs. Approx 6 months AFTER surgery: 158 lbs (my pre-illness weight). Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Your doing good Eric, What you gained I lost fast and more AFTER SURGERY now 3 1/2 years. Still loosing........ Got a problem.. to fix............ :-( 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. I lost 45 lbs overall . Weighed 230 before my first surgery now 16 months after second surgery I am bouncing back n forth from 185 to 189 for last few months . Its fine with me its what I weighed when I got out of High School 41 years ago . And that's ok with me . Never have been a very healthy eater . Did try a V-8 today (thanks to Z)  but I spiced it up with some chili powder its not bad . Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis I really like V-8.. A little celery seeds and maybe a shot of Vodka for an late afternoon calm me down drink in the warm weather.. ???? not bad.. Just a little Vodka.. A treat that I haven't had in 15 years... Lots of ice to make it last longer and more fluids.. Come on Summer!!!!!! My friend is on a health kick and drinks all these health drinks, and spends more time in the bathroom than with us.. Never mind the 20 + health pills per/day.. And she is healthy-I find that these extra health pills are not good for you.. As u read lately.. going to the Dr. etc. you must mention these supplements. Eric, do these interfere with other medication or emergency meds. that is needed such as I.V. pain meds, --Meds necessary if your in need of if one is uncouncious-(car accident ?) badly hurt-something like that??   2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. Felicity, I think that your at a good weight now.. So relax and enjoy you fun foods while u can!! Your not that tall.. (tiny) Me at 5'8" I would love to be in the 120's range.. Ilie..... This woman (Carol) has been my visitor and now great friends.. You all would love her!! AS I was so sick and couldn't go anyplace, she always came to my house even just to have lunch -- she loves my Quiche.. I am going to have a life this week and just do 2 infusions.. :-) 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. I weighed in at 110 pounds again--lost 7 pounds from 3 days ago.. 5'8" not good.. but I think I can turn around in a paper bag now. I have lost from surgery 55 pounds, 3 1/3 years ago-- What did u all eat to gain weight? I am stuffing my face with everything.. and enjoying it. :-? 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. What did u all eat to gain weight? I am stuffing my face with everything.. and enjoying it. :-? Before I left hospital the dietitian told me to eat little and often , even chocolate treats like mini bars of mars, snickers etc well encouraged , white bread white rice and most meats (sorry Eric) I also ate a lot of pizzas and other take away food , I am eating a little healthier now but I still eat the occasional pizza , hope you gain some weight back soon Marcie Hey Tony Sounds like you eat the same way I do . Pizza candy , cookies . I have been leary of the snickers but now I'm gonna try one . I too eat a lot of meat (sorry also Eric) I eat a lot of Mexican food tortillas hot chili's cooked into things etc. Proctectomy , Ileostomy , Ulcerative Colitis Hey Robert make sure to chew the snickers really really well (nuts) I love mexican food as well esp chilli but not really hot , if its too hot you cant taste all the flavour s Yep, that's about what my diet worked up to, and in a hurry. All the stuff that I use to love that my UC wouldn't let me eat was back on the menu, with limitations on things with nuts and uncooked veggies. I still don't handle the nuts very well, but every so often I have to have some almonds or cashews. UC since 2002, subtotal colectomy Dec. 2016, proctolectomy Nov. 2018. Yep, that's about what my diet worked up to, and in a hurry. All the stuff that I use to love that my UC wouldn't let me eat was back on the menu, with limitations on things with nuts and uncooked veggies. I still don't handle the nuts very well, but every so often I have to have some almonds or cashews. My doc told me eat anything you want except nuts. I can have peanut butter I put it in my shakes daily . But not whole ones. That and raw veggies like carrots, broccoli etc. . I got a bowel blockage from raw carrots and raw broccoli. I am never eating that again. I eat just like you all do.. And as much or more.. Some of you stated you went to a dietation . And that you really lied this experance. What just did they do for you? Mine just upped and left me.. I think it is insurance.. ?? But she in in the same group of the upper GI Dr. big group and they may have told her that I am GOING on the Gattex. Which I haven't as of yet decided on as of yet. Seems like they want me to sign away my first born son type of thing. I call then many times -- where they send me to call and no calls back.. (now) No questions answered and they are so simple--I want deeper answers.. Understanding of how it works, etc. Understand the S.B. I get hardly nothing.. These are Medical people.. :-$.  If I do go on this injection, I am sure that I will get many calls for MY input of their questions.. I will just give them the same answer that they give me now.. Sorry, cant answer that.....personal you know" "Will have someone call you" :-) pay back time............. IF the price is right ,like five dollars per month.. :-) Anyone here with short bowel? I need connections and more information than what is on the web site.. Thanks in advance.. Be well all-- 2014 - 3 strangulations of colon, Ulcerative colitis, removal of colon, illiostomcy named woooh Nellie.. My doc told me eat anything you want except nuts. Pro tip: Soak whatever whole nuts you have in water overnight and they'll become soft and much easier to digest. My favorites are almonds, cashews, and pistachios (these are like ice cream when they are soft!). Some of you stated you went to a dietation . And that you really liked this experance. What just did they do for you? Mine just upped and left me.. I think it is insurance.. ??  Most dietitians will take note of your restrictions and then help you to build a menu plan around them based on your goals (to lose weight, to gain weight, better health, etc.). Some are better than others and not all are great for GI issues. Insurance may or may not be covered, but they don't tend to be something you would need to use weekly. More info on how to find one: https://www.veganostomy.ca/finding-registered-dietitian-ibdostomy-tips/    Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. That's a cracking idea about soaking the nuts, I will eat a few but only one or two. any tips on coconut cos that's the one I really steer clear of. ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns
