I was at a Neighborhood Christmas party when this lady in my hood comes up to me and says " You really need to eat your so thin "

Argh! The "you need to eat" comment rubs me the wrong way!

When I was really thin because I couldn't eat or keep food down, that comment was so hurtful - like I'm purposely trying to starve myself to death.

Good Morning Z . You were probably just what the girl needed at that time to lift her spirits and let her know she is not alone . Her sister probably didn't have any idea about what she was going through and her just getting thru surgery probably didn't know herself . We know hospitals don't really tell you much . Hopefully you do see her again when you go back and if you haven't already or when you think the time is right you could invite her to our little family . I know it sure made a difference for me .

Bubbles I know what you mean . I too get told that I look skinny (Haha first time in my life for that) but yes even from family and friends . And I know I have lost some color from not being out in the sun like I used to be the color will come back but I hope the weight doesn't  Ha . I lost 45 pounds after second surgery and I like it that way I don't care what they say . I think sometimes people say things without meaning to be rude but don't realize they put their foot in their mouth till its to late . And then there are the ones who do it on purpose . That's when I tell them "That's like the Pot calling the Kettle Black" most of them don't understand what I'm even mean . Like Z said you can't teach stupid .

I should be so lucky. I weighed in at 255 lbs. My body doesn't like being without. 

My mom told me that when I was 6 months old,  a fellow concentration camp survivor saw that I wasn't eating the way that she thought I should. So she pressed mom's ' button ' and said, "why are you starving him? We aren't in the Camps anymore, Feed him more!"

I did not stand a chance.  At 13 , i was 160 lbs. At 23 ,230 . My high was 275. 

To get transplanted, i dropped to 230. Grew back to 260, yoyoed. 

After all my plumbing corrections,  i realized that food is not getting absorbed . So I eat.

Thank God, I am alive and well enough to do what I do.

Hey Z most I have gotten up to was 230 before first surgery . I was 185 when I got out of high school (which is 40+ years ago)  after that it went up was 220's for years then 230 . So I feel good where I'm at now but I do like to eat and believe me I am not a healthy eater I eat greasy stuff , sweets and drink beer but luckily now I don't seem to gain .

Some folk carry weight different than others I am 175, my bother in law who is the same height is around 200 looks thinner than I am

I should have proof read my last post before hitting the button . I should have mentioned through surgeries and all I lost 45 pounds that is why I am at 185 lbs now and comfortable .

I weighed in at 116 pounds today................. gained 5 pounds... :-) 

As some of you, I carried my weight well even at 165 pounds. But that was the limit. !!!!!!! Then I got sick and the song goes on......... Haven't heard from Barb.. WAS to go home new years day -- ???????

Nancy and I called each other (from this blog) We are going to meet for lunch next Tuesday..  If its not snowing and we all get plowed out tonight and all day tomorrow.  A nice foot of snow and winds. AND still no heat here at home........... :- ) Then snow next Monday into Tuesday-- What ever???  Some don't know how us New Englanders surive this, But look at Eric, way up there, the Artic cold last longer! Snow doesn't bother me, its the below 30's and below 0's and artic winds.. And the ICE that is out there now.. Just wish we had heat during this Artic cold snap--

Ya, and I go to the Upper GI special Diet Dr. on Monday.........  Here I am crying I cant gain weight....... go figure.. But it is not good food weight-that I have (crap) now stopped.. Just wanted to see if there would be a change in absorption and how long it would take.. Well, it took 3 weeks......  Nope still no heat... but got over a foot of snow and that made it warmer..... how's that? :-)

Dear Marcie,  I wish that I was able to help you with your lack of heat. Have you heard that Eskimos eat blubber to keep warm.  So, start blubbering.  :lol: .

I think I heard on BBC that great Britain is undergoing a deep freeze.  Don't think we're in any position to help. My older brother told me that he had to turn on the heat in his apartment located in West Palm Beach,  Florida. It's all in the perspective. 

Personally,  today was a 2 undershirt day. Brrr.

I lived just north of W. Palm Beach Fl. I remember it being cold a few days.. I have been through worse -- One snow blizzard left us without power for 8 days.. a few years ago.  And 20 years ago when we moved back  to Ct. Tom went to South Kora for 3 months, we got a heck of a storm of ICE !! 1 foot thick!!! That was a good month PLUSE of nothing.. Just me and my cat.. My younger son age 19 was living in my nice home in Palm Beach Fl. and I am up here and Tom over there?  Something wrong with this picture I said............ So, I packed up after a month of that crap and went to Fl. :-) We r doing O.K.  Just the artci cold blast of the past 2 weeks, but the snow keeps it on the warmer side, 17 degrees.. :-) Then below 0 this weekend.. Get my long mink coat out huh?  (sorry Eric) 

Regarding absorbtion rates, 3 things tie together: Dehydration , weight,  fecal output. There is a common solution. 

I take codeine sulfate pills if imodium doesn't do it. It slows down the peristalsis in my digestive system. Once it slows down,  more water is absorbed,  more nutrition is absorbed. Bag unloads slow down from 20 a day to 5-8 times a day. I also can sleep for 5 hours at night.

Caution : codeine is a narcotic and requires special prescription.  I use it only when my diarrhea is too much .the only reason that I mentioned it is to  help guide the desperately unbalanced to achieve some balance in their lives.

May the toothpicks become zaftig and may the tubbies get peace of mind as their weight reaches their goals. And may we all feel all right.

I have been taking salt pills NOT like I should. up to 3 x / day- Makes Nellie sing to much-gas.. What does Codeine and salt (sulfate) do together?  Codeine makes a mess out of my tummy.. They mentioned this to me last Christmas in the hospital.. I said No-

Thanks.  I am taking notes for Monday-- Anything has to be better than the injections that cost 300,000 a year.. they lowered the price by 200,000-I am so thrilled..... :-) Like I said, not very interested .. Cant afford it, and its so new.. It is called Gattex - google it..  What they want to put into our bodies is like ?????????????  I want a quality life.. I am not on my last legs yet..... I am fighting hard..... Thanks for caring............ hugs............
