Hi all.Quick question.Got a deal on 3M SoluPrep wipes. Can't really find any info them with regards to ostomies however. Does anyone know(heard of them), if they can be used for adhesive remover or cleansing around the stoma? Tk's

Where did you get them from?

The 3M website says "For Hospital and Healthcare professional use only", so it's unlikely that we have any members with first-hand experience outside a hospital setting.

They look like antiseptic product used to clean the skin before a surgical incision.

The main ingredients are chlorhexidine gluconate and isopropyl alcohol, which *should* be safe to use on the skin around the stoma (not the stoma itself!), but I'd probably check with your stoma nurse first.

I don't see any reason to use it, unless you've been directed to.

I didn't get them yet. Saw an ad on line. They looked like adhesive wipes so thought I would ask. No harm no foul. Tk's

@jrachr Eric’s right. For pre surgical. I’d be afraid  to use them so close to the stoma only because before my surgery they had me use a body wash with Chlorhexidine and told to to only do my body and not to get near the stoma or my private parts.

@Chelly. Yup figured that. But all good.As I said just saw an ad somewhere and thought I'd ask. Never purchase unless you know what it is. That is why I asked and I didn't purchase. Cheer's

@jrachr ya I’m always looking for things too and especially when a sale heads my way. I would have thought the same as being from 3m.

@jrachr It's interesting that you saw an ad for them. Seems strange to advertise a product like that, since it's not something the general population would use or even be able to get very easily.

It's good that you asked, though. While I don't think there would be any harm to using them, you'd probably be disappointed if they don't work the way you expected them to.

As I said Eric. I never did purchase them. When not sure ask first. Rule of thumb. Wiped from my plate (excuse the pun) as soon as I heard they were no good to me. Lol. Don't even know where I saw them now.  Done now. Cheer's

@jrachr No worries at all. Glad you did ask before spending any money.

Have a good one!
