@tony-h Wow, your poor wife, she's gone through a lot with all of this. I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers. I hope your feeling better after your gallbladder removal.

Weather here is about the same. Hoping for some 70 type weather with lower humidity .

91 degrees here and the air barely feels as if it's on but it is. It's like you just have to lay here and not move.

Sorry for the hiatus, guys. My wife was in the hospital for nearly the last two weeks, so I've had to take on double-duty with everything + work + hospital visits. She's back now, but I'll likely still be picking up the extra slack for a while.

@tony-h I hope that everything has been well with your wife these past few weeks.

On the weather front, it's been near 30C for many days, which I kind of like. Less rain, too! 🤗

@veganostomy.   Eric... so sorry to hear about your wife.  That makes things rather difficult in life, for sure. I hope & pray she is on the path to a good recovery.  Please pass my warmest regards onto her for me.

I had a feeling something wasn't right for you, but I was really hoping you were on a holiday checking out another rollercoaster somewhere!  Please know that you are deeply cared about & I'm pretty sure we all try to respect your privacy, but like anyone else here, feel free to share how things are going on the home & healing path. Take extra care of yourself too as healing comes her way.

With heartfelt sincerity,

Linda

Tony, I'm so hoping all is on the uphill slide now for your wife too. Shes had a busy time!  Honestly, it may be easy to look after us Sick-O's as we aren't typically making messes that need cleaning up after! Lol!   Lots going on in our VO families!!  Eric has sure had his hands full too.

Oh! It has been so very hot here!  Often 80°c by 10:30 and rising.  To hot to even touch the pavement with dog feet after 9:30 a.m.  thpufht i admit, it seems my hairy pup, Missy has gotten lazy in the heat as she tries to play me out just catching her to hook her to her leash! Silly dog!  I can feel the heat coming thru my sandals by the time I walk home from a walk with just my Grand and I !  Too hot to sit outside under the awning that seems to create a dry oven type heat tunnel in the back. The good part though it the wind we get accompanying it almost daily.

Our Garden is growing very well! Gwens peas are now producing flowers which in turn means * pea pods full of peas in her perfect pea garden future! *  ( Can you say that 5 times without tripping on your tongue first?)  Perfect for munching on.  We have our first Cucumber is ready to pick, one Zucchini is big enough and a few more on the way! The Tomatoe bushes are flourishing as are the Peppers, Green Beans and the Grapes.  Based on the above ground foliage, I'm pretty sure the Beets and Carrots & Radishes alike are doing well beneath the surface too.  The birds are my pest control & doing a fabulous job so far... knock on wood! Lol!

I seem to be deep into home aquarium life & trying to nurse a little blue Glo-Fush out of its swim bladder disease by giving Bluey an Epsom salts bath regularly... lol! The 2 snails seem to have produced 3 healthy of baby snails as to which weve only seen q the last 4 days.  They are the aquarium janitorial service!

Stay cool e everyone & stay hydrated!

Many thanks, guys. She's doing better, but it was a little hairy as we waiting on multiple test results to come back.

Glad to hear that Sheila has been well following her procedures, @tony-h

@veganostomy Eric, I’m sorry to hear that your wife has been in hospital. I’m glad that she’s out now, but I’m sure it has been a worry for you, and as you said, double duty. Care givers have a difficult job, often unnoticed. I hope that both of you are able to take good care of yourselves and recuperate.

@tony-h Tony, so glad to hear that Sheila is making good progress. What a time you both have had! I hope you’re able to get out for short walks to enjoy your beautiful scenery and the summer weather. I just recently found out that my son’s girlfriend’s paternal ancestors are from Cork. That’s in your backyard, I think.

Weather here in SW Ontario has been fluctuating. Hot and humid for a few days, then cooler and rainy. Today’s prediction is 24C and rain in the afternoon. I’ve been swimming a lot during the heat waves. I find that I have to change my appliance more frequently when I swim a lot, but not by much. I might get 4 days rather than 5 before I need to change.

@Eric , I'm glad to hear your wife is doing better

Weather here is cooler thankfully. You can actually open the window the past 2 days without sweltering and melting. I was actually freezing at my nurse appt yesterday. I was like......is there a room with heat? Lol

This morning was 69. Really good sleeping weather. If it would stay this way I'll be happy!!

Today I decided to walk to the store.  it was 92 degrees but humidity was 45% so it was not too bad. Yes it was hot but not unbearable. It was a nice walk and I got a lot of food goodies.

Chelly... What kind of food goodies? I may show up at your door, lol!  Its good you felt well enough to take a walk! YAY YOU!

It's been stifling 🔥 hot here the last few weeks!!  Yesterday gave us 102°c with very dry heat.  I had been out walking my dog and once home I went straight to the garden to do some weeding.   My Son came up & we spent some time bracing the big Choia cactus up with 3 poles of 12 foot rebar.  He sledge hammered the poles into the earth & I held the cactus back and in place with my bare hands! Kidding! I actually used the canvas I had saved from a hose, that was covering a cheap expanding type hose I bought at the dollarstore 2 weeks or so back.  The tubing had slowly seperated from the nozzle causing an annoying drip when holding the nozzle in a certain direction awarded you with cold water up your sleeve.  Last week, while Gwen & I were watering potted plants when the hose made its final and sudden separation!!  We both rec'd a cold drenching wet, but refreshing shower!  Being a hot day, Gwens giggles were very infectious & the two of us got a little more wet once I gave her the hose to her to hold while I tried going to shut the water off! Kids! Lol! The cactus... So, I used the canvas I'd removed that was covering the tubing to the hose, to pull back & hold the cactus in place.  It worked very well and we only had to tie one branch to the rebar.  Afterwards, I did more weeding & found some waterlines were covered by weeds.  Now, I think the beans, beets & carrots will grow better with water access.

The problem with weeding in the heat & having an ostomy...  I had not hydrated properly for the job. I was very content on the third level up, just discovering 3 more  zucchini & 1 pickling cuke ready for picking. After about an hour up there, I started to feel dizzy, just a little dizzy...  I admit that I kind of ignored it & after another 20 min. I felt what I was sure a drunken person would feel, if I was drunk! I couldn't get my balance & my head felt so woozy it was Bazar! I had left my phone in the house, so I was on my own.  However, I was able to realize I needed out of the heat & into the house for a bottle of Gatorade or anything wet!  I'll tell you all,  Its so worth it to keep some of the drink on hand even if you don't like the taste!  Hmmm... that kind of sounds naughty, lol!  I add mine to gingerale, it helps make it more palatable!  It took about an hour of applying myself to resting, drinking and recovering from that short bought of dehydration!!  The symptoms of dehydration really are changing for me the last few years.

I'm wondering what your favorite flavor of Gatorade is if you drink it??  Do you mix it with anything?

Does anyone have a good recipe for Zuchinni anything ?? I have a good one for chocolate zucchini cake... it was my hubbies Great Aunts recipe, and one for a rather yummy zucchini loaf with pineapple in it, but that's about my limit!  I'd appreciate sharing recipes with you if you have one.  A picture of it would be great.... . . .  ..  ..  ..  thank you in advance for considering it.

@dlkfiretruck  Hi again! Your hose ordeal sounds like fun. I used to garden years ago. We grew cantaloupe, watermelon, zucchini , tomatoes, lettuce ( but the bunny's ate the lettuce) , habenero peppers, cayenne and probably more that I cannot remember. Those zucchini really get to start growing out of hand. I was making bread for the whole street just to use it and gave some of the zucchini to neighbors as well.  I can't remember my recipe because I got it out of my ex"s grandmothers recipe card box at the time. It was delicious though. Maybe you can look online or someone might chime in here with a good one for you.

Ok, so the food goodies you asked about......

Stouffer's tv dinners

Baked chicken

Swedish meatballs

Fried chicken

Im sorry guys, I'm not vegan but I love the vegan ostomy site and all the members.

Then other stuff

Totinos pizza rolls a small box of 15

Bag of pepperoni

Cream cheese

Flour tortillas

Colby cheese from.deli

Swiss miss tapioca pudding

Hello

Grahmn crackers

Vanilla wafers

Almond milk

Instant buttery mash  potatoes

Greek yogurt plain

Lorna done cookies

Soft toffee candy, one bag

Juicy fruit gum in a 3 pk

Grape Powerade

Blue Powerade

Purified water

V8 juice small cans

Bag of premade hard boiled eggs

Sound good? Yes you can come over and we can stuff our faces!! 🤣 I love making a pepperoni, bacon tortilla sandwich with cream cheese on it! So Delicious but I forgot bacon this time. I usually buy the microwave bacon. Im a good cook and I love making recipes that I find. But,  since it's just me I rarely cook anymore. Everything is microwave. I've thought about an air fryer though as well.

I know your wondering how I got this home walking...well, everyone in my building , we all take the shopping carts home from the store and so do 2 other senior buildings in the area. We are not supposed to but they send trucks to come get the carts like every two weeks from these buildings. They ate making a whole lot of money from us all doing this though because we can really load them up. Had I not took the cart I'd be going home with one bag to carry. I need a wagon. That will come some time in the future when I can get ahead or find a cheap used one somewhere.

As for the Gatorade and Powerades my doctor told me mix half and half with water. My favorite is the purple one. I'll tell you what is really good I'd these packets called liquid IV . They really get you hydrated quickly but very expensive.

For the weather, it's 84 degrees with 45% humidity. Looks like some dark clouds mixed in with white ones in the sky so it looks like it may rain. Not going out today though. The walk yesterday wore me out and did laundry this morning. I have a huge picture window and in the 8th floor so a gorgeous view. I'm right up there with the clouds.

It's hovering around 30C, but high humidity and lots of air quality issues due to smoke from fires 😷

Better than here .😉 Everybody stay warm or cool depending on where you are and enjoy your weekend

Weather today is 75 degrees and cloudy. It did rain a bit earlier in the day . I do prefer these  cooler days. Not too hot and not too cold. I know we have some more scorchers coming in the future so I'm just enjoying the break.
