They hadn't told me yet. I just wish that they would go in and finish what they started back in January. Get rid of the rest of my colon that's in there so I wouldn't keep coming in here every couple of months with this crap going on. I wish they'd just be done with it. It gets old really quick but I imagine you all know that having been down this road yourselves a few times.

Severe rheumatoid arthritis, spondoloarthropy, polymyalgia rhumatica, type 1 diabetic, IBS and finally, emergency diverticulitis surgery, colon removed Stella born Jan. 27, 2017. 6 bouts of c-diff, failed fecal transplant. Complete colonectomy and ileostomy July 30, 2018. ENOUGH!!

Marcie,  I started to respond to your note. I wrote and rewrote many thoughts. Nothing was coherent. So, I am just going to say to you and to the rest of us, thank you for your friendship.

We have limitations. We don't know all the answers. But, we try to make it a little better.  If I suggested a possible solution and it wasn't perfect,  at least I tried. Maybe,  it's a step in the right direction.

Being hooked up to fluid bags is a horrible way to live. Been there and done that.  When my liver died,  I was getting plasma and whole blood to stay alive. God gave me a second chance and I lived.

My friend Barbara is in trouble.  Jamie's in trouble. You're in trouble. I can't do much, but I will try to do what I can. So if I  pontificate,  accept that it is reasonable and coming from  a good place.

V8 is just one minor step in the right direction.  The end goal is to live normally with our changed status. We are humans who happen to have ostomies.

More later.I  need to sleep.

I would give my eyeteeth for a V8 right now. I've been on clear liquids for the whole week now and red Jello is getting really old.

My "z" did u have a kidney transplant?  I recall u having other serious problems besides the stoma. Glad you here with me/us.. :-)

Or troubles of our new companion (my Nellie) offers many trials and errors. Some of us need extended care.. I, among every one here goes into a state of shock..  Even tho some have made this decision with their Dr. Then there are some of us that  get the surprise.. Then the over load starts.. So many process's for us all to conquer....... I wish I had this blog to help me 3 years ago..  But as I see new member's here, asking for help-we can help them, because we have been at phase one!!  Never mind the stress....... We can hold their hand until they feel their comfort of their new normal.. I don't think you or anyone is being "conquer" of such.. I feel the important thing here is we want so much (or maybe feeling like we used to) BEFORE we received our stomas. We maybe different to others, but here? We are normal, and that is a nice feeling.. This is a chosen family of respect and love towards each other.. I also, thank you and others for this friendship-- So- If anyone is in Ct. Your welcome to my home.. You will be loved. Marcie and family.

As I and others that have extended issues, Look forward, things have a way of working themselves out.  Me? I have a plan.. It may not work, but  also in my mind if not? I gave it a good shot!! I may be in a delicate position now, But I have plans of going away for a long weekend without issues.. Or being afraid.. I may need a pop in hospital quickie... Been there done that.. I know me now, and I find that is a plus in advancement..  See? I am getting there, and others will also..

As we all have noticed, the nurses and Doctors, they don't know the tricks of our trade..  Like being prepared for outings, having home made supplies for our trips away from home.. The worries of eating/taking pills-blockages.. Everyone is different in such manners, AND the did not have Eric - :-)  But for serious issues, we have our Doctors.. For survival? we have each other.. Again, Thank you all.............

As much as I'd like to believe that it has that many benefits, we should also keep in mind that most store-bought pickles are preserved with chemical additives that probably aren't very good for us 😂

Been a rough time in the hospital the last couple of days. They keep telling me they can't find out what's wrong with me. They cannot find out why I am in pain. And it just your kind of throwing up their hands and saying wait and see what we can come up with. Getting to be rather old. I still have had nothing pass through Stella since last Saturday you think that would be kind of a big indicator of something being wrong but apparently would they do the scans and x-rays and stuff like that they don't find anything. So I'm frustrated don't know what's going to happen next. Good spot today a dear friend of mine who is a retired nurse named Liz stopped in to visit me with me and brought me a friend to spend more time with me here I'm attaching a photo

Barbara,

I am so sorry to hear you are still in the hospital and still not knowing whats going on. You must be so frustrated and going sir crazy. And now, you are seeing pink elephants! Thats really nice of your friend to both visit and bring you a new buddy.

Are you eating anything? Are you just getting IV nourishment? Hope Stella wakes up soon and does her job.

Do you like to read or do crosswords or something? I hope you can find something amusing to do. Hospitals do suck! Well, not the hospitals, just being there. Anyway.. sending you good wishes.

Best wishes for you to get home as soon as medically possible.

Sucks to be a medical mystery. I am sure all of us have baffled the Drs at one point or another during our medical stints.

Barb, This is terrible !!!!!!!

You have now joined my area of the "she is not text book" club.  No dues required.. :-)  Just a bunch of Medical people scratching their heads.. You feel left out, Scared, and really wonder if they know what they are doing? I know the feelings. But soon, they will get to the problem/problems...... And we get to be in the book of "OH, I remember's---" And the medical staff end up telling you that horrible word "time" heals... and good luck..

I know that you love elephants, what a kind thought from your friend.. They are not easy to find.. (either ones) Well, name your new elephant and cuddle.  You now have a pink friend to hear you out and dry your tears.....  :-)  Never the less, You look pretty good.  Let us try to help you keep up your spirts, and you try too ...........  Best.. Marcie...

Good going Barb !!!! They say we all have to drink so much and most of us don't.  I am for one just cant drink all of that.. Unless I get up early in the mornings.. But on my days off?  I sleep in.. Like until after noon.. :-) One thing Eric said, is that he has found (and we also should be taking this notice.. ) how much fluids are IN veg's and fruits.. AS we  have to keep our tummy's on a 1/4- ? full at all time to avoid gas, This is so much healthy for us. As far a salads go, I like the ice-berg lettuce - It is chewable for me, and have no issues of passing this. Small salads tho-- Maybe I will try some pickle juice for a dressing.. :-) yummm.. That should make me drink more water.. I and we will get to the proper amount of fluids in us.. !!!
