@chelly Yay! How long is your hospital stay expected to be? How are you feeling in general?

Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate.

@chelly All the best to you, Chelly. I’m glad you’re feeling confident - you have been through enough!

@veganostomy he was mentioning tomorrow if things are going well. No, I m not ready yet. Still in a whole lot of pain. We are still waiting for output as well.

I've gotten up walking and I'm eating soft foods. .

@tigerlily thank you! Yes enough ! But.....they say I can get a hernia at the new stoma site. If that happens then that would be addressed at  that time. I'll need to be careful.

Hi Chelly... I hope you're still doing well and the results are a longer stoma at a good place.

Im sorry to hear about your lungs but I understand about handling one thing at a time too. Just dont wait too long.

I've been reading along but unable to reply.

Stay strong! You've got this in the bag! ... Hopefully!

@dlkfiretruck hi, thanks for reading. Of course you all know how these surgeries go. Had no initial ileus but sent home in two days and got bad pains. Re admitted for 5 days. Still not 100 percent but better. My digestive system needs to fully wakeup. Of course the stoma is  a little over a week old and iis still swollen . Time will tell as I move along in this healing process.

I feeling my heart that this will be a better outcome after it's all healed.

I was fortunate to have both my surgeons in my operation. That hardly never happens but my doctor made it happen. Very greatful and thankful.

I have staples this time on my up and down incision. I'm sure the scar will look much better too after those are taken out and fully healed.

Yes, the lung, I need to put it on the back burner just for the moment and finish taking care of this although I do have my pet scan and brain MRI s scheduled for next week , so it's still being worked on while on hold.

Hope all is good for everyone.

@chelly I hope you’re feeling better today. I’m sorry that you were readmitted, but maybe that’s the place you need to be right now. I’m sending you hugs🤗 and wishing you well.

@tigerlily hello, no I've been in and home already since I posted about going back in.

I'm still having those pains but they tell me my digestive system is still trying to fully awaken and adjust which I get that. Hey, at least no nasogastric tube at all this time so that is a huge plus.

Thank you for the well wishes. I think I just have to realize the magnitude of what was just done inside my body and expect there will be pains, Cramps and cricks here for a while until it settles in. I need to go slower with food. I've been real careful and only staying on soft foods ( my choice) I feel safer this way for the moment and I can move up when I feel I'm ready to try safely for more solid foods.

It's like I've had all this done before but we quickly forget what it's like healing up and all. I think I'll be ok . I'm still so greatful for both of my surgeons to go into the surgery for me like that. I think they knew I was at my wits end with it all. I'm keeping good faith that this stoma will be much better and it's back in the right side . The last one was a left sider.

I hope all are doing well here. I haven't had much time to check in with all this going on. I wish everyone good health and well l being for now and in the upcoming new year!! ♥️

Just a little post stoma surgery update. It's been only about 3 and 1/2 weeks but it seems longer and I have to remember this when I get frustrated about the healing and getting back my energy. I had a pet scan done for the lung cancer the other day and it's showing I still have ileus I'm my bowels and I kind of figured that because I've been getting intermittent ileus like pain in my abdomen. Sometimes with nausea but I've been trying to ride it out here at home. The doctors are aware as I saw them last week and saw them again this past Tuesday.

It's so frustrating and I guess I'm just being impatient on getting back to some normalcy of sort. My new stoma like the old one has high output but I will not take Imodium with this ileus. The stoma itself looks great and nice and pump with good color and thus far sticking out far enough but there's still time for it to change and heal. I have high hopes for this one. Still feeling quite weak and spending a lot of time in bed and sleeping.

Lung surgery is going to have to wait as I have to totally heal up first from this. Will talk to that doctor early next week.
