Merry Christmas to all! May we all have that desired problem free New Year in 2022!Β

John, lol... hand sanitizer sure sounds like a good idea for Santa, especially before he eats those cookies & feeds his four leggedΒ  buddies the 🥕's or 🍎's left out for them.Β  Β

I'm wondering if you all would share one or two traditions you have in your families at Christmas or in the new year. Maybe tell about a special ornament thats been passed down through the years to your family or a story told.Β

Is there one or two activities you do or didΒ  & enjoy best while preparing for the big day during your adult life or with your folks when you were a child?Β

For us as kids, back in the 60 & 70's there was a place called Frys Corner.Β  It was a farmers field that flooded almost every year.Β  There was all sorts of weeds & shrubs & a few trees that grew up & were frozen in the ice, this made for bumpy ice skating! Lol!Β  Β  My Dad knew about this place because he worked for Dairyland &Β  drove a great big shiney silverΒ  tanker truck. He collected fresh milk fromΒ  the Farms each morning. Yes, I am actually a true product of the milkman!! Lolol!Β  Β Several times every year myΒ  Dad loaded us 5 kids & Mom up in the struggling old station wagonΒ  & drove us to Frys Corner. There we put our well usedΒ  ice skates on & skated until the youngest kids were ready to go home.

Because my Mom baked 12 to 14 loaves of bread a week, she would start a big batch of dough before we left. Once home she cut the dough of 1 or 2 loaves into chunks & deep fried them.Β  I have her recipe for the best icing sheΒ  made for doughnuts & if she didn't make it that day then the dough was sprinkled generously with icing sugar..Β  We sat on the carpet in front of our fireplace sipping mugs of hot chocolateΒ  while each morsel of that treat was devoured by all of us!Β

Its been in minus temps here in the Okanagan so when I was outside one last time with my little dog, the falling snow was kissing me on my face & itΒ  reminded me of those care free childhood days.Β Β

About thirty years ago these little jesters came in a carefully wrapped box with my name on it that just appeared under the Christmas tree - I put them up every year wondering who gave them to me.

When I was about 4 my Mum brought a fake Christmas tree. We had it for about 30year. Finally it got so tattered it looked like a wet crow had got tangled in tinsel!! I wish I still had it. Interesting fact, the fake Christmas tree was first made by a company who made toilet brushes 🎄🚽

I have a 3 foot tall silver tree that used to belong to my grandparents. It still has the price sticker on it - $6.99 at Eatons, which gives you an idea of how old it is. We put it together every year, and just hang little red glass balls on it - it’s too small to support very many decorations. So, my grandparents, gone for over 30 years, are still included in Christmas.

Β

I hope everyone has a lovely holiday season, and my thanks also to Eric for providing this space for us. 🎄☃️❄️

Merry Christmas (and Happy Christmas for those in the UK) to all.

Sure is nice to have a subject and not a mention of leaks, rings, wafers, etc.

Hope all have a Happy Holiday season.

Merry Christmas to all my fellow ostomates, and hopes for a better 2022!Β  I would like to add a little "season's eatings" to my season's greetings.Β  For my fellow ileostomates, let's all remember, when eating our Christmas feasts, to chew well and keep hydrated.Β  We don't want any brussel sprout induced trips to the ER.Β  Not the way to celebrate!

Cheers to all,

Terry

Thanks, Terry - and there will be no raw carrot sticks or spinach dip at my house!

I made Swedish meatballs, my first attempt, and they turned out pretty good. My grandson and his girlfriend brought their own vegetarian meatballs but spooned a little of the sauce I made over them and said it was delicious.
