Here is my new BFF  (in case you don't know that means Best Friend Forever). She dispenses m meds and reminds me to take them in an ever louder and louder voice and then an annoying alarm.  No excuse for skipping meds anymore.

That's awesome! The unit looks pretty large - how many pills does it hold and does it separate different meds for different times of the day?

Barb, Just how big is this???

 This is not for your insulin pump right?  I though that was to come in a few months.

Who is going to load this? How do you place the timer? What if your out enjoying life, and it goes off and it doesn't turn off? Is it real loud???? How many pills does it hold? For how long? daily weekly?  Very interesting............

Good luck.. :-) M.

 Okay to try and answer everyone's questions here goes. First of all the unit is about 18 inches tall and about 12 or 13 inch in diameter. So it's fairly big and fairly heavy. I have it sitting on an end spot in my kitchen counters. I thought it was going to be a nuisance to have it there and take up space but so far it's been okay. As far as loading it goes they try to find a guy that will do the pre-loading for you that is they send you your prescriptions already counted out and put into the dispenser cups that the machine uses. The machine uses cups that look like what you get at the drive-in restaurant for ketchup for tartar sauce or something like that. If there isn't a pharmacy that will do it you can load your own into bubble cups. It holds about two weeks worth of prescriptions. And right now I'm using it for four times per day. I have not asked if it will do more than that when the gal comes back again I will ask if there is a limit to how many times a day it can dispense. When it tells you that it's time to take your meds you go to the machine and there is a red light with a big button underneath it you can see the button on the picture. The press the button the machine thing and drops out one of the cups with your meds in it which you didn't proceed to take. The way it's set up for me but also check my blood sugar at the same time that I take my meds so there is a reminder to me to check my glucose. The thing that I noticed it first with it is that it's kind of weird the voice on it is not a computer voice it's actually a recording of someone's voice. The person who recorded it for me the voice sounds just like the wife of one of the former pastors that I used to be an assistant to when I was working. And it's weird to have that voice all of a sudden start talking to you I found myself the first couple of times looking around to see who was there and then recognized it was my new BFF. The machine can either be set up so that you load the cups into the machine or someone else can do it and there is a locking panel on the machine that would prevent someone from getting in unless they have a key. So if you had someone who was not with it mentally you or a caregiver or someone like that who who was okay could do the loading and getting it ready to go for the next two weeks. But the good thing is you only have to do that every two weeks. So it's not a big nuisance to take care of. I think it's going to be a good thing. Can't remember whether I mentioned it but in addition to this machine that is taking care of my medications I now I'm an official little old lady I have the help I've fallen and can't get up button around my neck. I hated the look of the black string lanyard that was around it so I took that off and I put a nice silver chain on it and it hides inside my blouse that it looks like I'm wearing just another necklace and it's slipped out of sight. So it isn't a big ugly thing hanging out there. Mine works anywhere that I am. It has GPS locator built into it and so it can find me wherever I happen to have fallen down. To tell the truth it's actually a good feeling to know that I have it. There have been a couple of times where I fell and it took me 30 minutes to crawl across my living room to get to my cell phone to be able to call the paramedics. Now all I have to do is press the little button. So these are my two entrances into little old lady Hood. If I missed any questions I'll ask him again and I'll make sure that I get them all answered I think I got everybody. Talk to you again later Barbara

The pills are loaded in small plastic cups, like the ones fry sauce or ketchup come in at the drive in.  In my first a.m. dose I have 12 meds and it doesn't come close to making the cup full.

Does it make cafe au lait and does it come with a barrista?

Seriously, that does look like it would help organize your meds really well. It would have been good for my mother too, she suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis ( like you do) particularly in her hands. She could not open pill bottles or really any other kind of thing with a lid.

Yup, that is what I am liking about it. My hand don't  work very well either. Child proof bottles are impossible. ,

Whats really funny is going to the pharmacy.  Instead of a bag of meds you get what they call the "pizza box".  That's what it looks like ... a take home pizza. Inside is a big square of cardboard with holes in it to keep the pill holders in order.  I will send a photo next time I get back one.

@veganostomy

Hi Eric,

I'm having trouble figuring out how to send you a message.

I hope you get this!  I just want to ask you, is there a barrier ring that has longer wear time than eakin seal?  That isn't so sticky?

It acts like there is pine pitch in the eakin seal.  It is just so, so sticky!  And what is BFF?  Thanks!  paramed84@gmail.com

The Coloplast Protective Ring is quite durable and should hold better than the Eakin rings. Given those a try 👍
