@cat-momma I will! I just ordered them late Friday night so by tomorrow they should start some kind of shipping process. I will defiantly post an update on how they work out. They are not something you use in the shower but you could use them after you get out of the shower before putting your bag on this way they would take any residues off the Ostomy area so the bag will get a good seal. They can be used without showering to say like if you just need to change your bag you can just wipe with one of those and after dry just put the bag on. I was actually talking to one of Coloplast reps about them a few weeks ago is how I learned of them. I always used an antibacterial soap like dial white after surgery. In the hospital they had me using hibiclens on my body but not on the Ostomy or genital areas.

@cat-momma  ...Oh! I know what you mean!! My sister made fabulous soaps & I loved them but could never use them for skin allergy reasons & eczema.

I was thinking today... maybe keep & use the artisan soaps & before you leave the shower with hair already in a towel to prevent drips also drying chest & upper  tummy,  then take a minute to wash the area on your tummy with another soap & rinse & dry!  Please tell us if you try this & if it works. I hope it does!

Yay! My brava cleansing wipes came today!! Can’t wait to try them. The package is small. I was expecting the pack to be the size of bum wipes but it is small. I think I will follow my regular routine and then after my shower I will use one or two wipes to remove any residue. Stay tuned, I will let you know how it’s working out in a couple of days.

@cat-momma when is your surgery?

I don't have a date yet. But sometime in June or July if I must guess. Hopefully summer won't be too hot this year.

@dlkfiretruck I thought maybe I can keep using them for all the areas underneath my stoma, like legs and bum. I always try to conserve water (and gas) when I shower. I get myself wet, turn the water off and then lather up. So I think your suggestions might work, I'll let you know!

@cat-momma I think being that you have had plenty of time to find all this information beforehand that you will adapt very well to having a stoma. You will be prepared.

Ok so it’s been twice that I have used the cleansing wipes. They are not for me. I feel they made things actually stickier for me. Must be something in the ingredients. Something in there irritated my skin as well.  I found something else I’m going to try though as well called detachol but it’s not a wipe just a remover.

As some of you may or may not know, I had switched to a 1pc appliance quite a while ago, mostly to help lower costs.

I was consistently getting at least 7 day wear before the edges began to peel more than I'd like, and not a single leak during that time. Most appliance changes were 10 days apart, and a few times it was up to 12 days.

Then I went back to my typical 2pc, just to use up what I had leftover, and boom - leak after 3 days.

With all other factors being the same, my thoughts are that the added surface area from the 1pc gives far more support to the appliance than the 2pc does - especially as the bag fills.

Since 3, 4, 5 days were generally the "max" I would get with a 2pc, I think I'll be sticking with the 1pc.

Has anyone else had this same experience between 1 and 2 pc appliances?

definitely happened to me. First and only one time I ever wore a 2 piece I was driving and leaking in the car. Once piece pouches just seem more secure. In my 6 or so years of having an ileostomy I’ve probably had maybe 12 leaks in that time. Not bad for 6 years. Usually the leaks I did have were because I cut the hole too small, something moisturizing got into my pouch area and once because I needed to switch to deep convex after my hernia surgery.

Sorry Eric, I never meant to highjack your post.

And yet, even though I am thoroughly sure I am making the right choice, I sometimes get this rush of adrenaline thinking about it.... like a part of me saying "what the f.. are you doing!" And what I'm really scared of is, that I might be constipated all the time and need to irrigate after all.

@cat-momma I guess you have to think real hard about it and weigh out what’s going to be best. Are you getting colostomy or ileostomy?

Just re-reading & trying to catch up.  I'm wondering...you could try a "childs soft bristle toothbrush# if you feet you need a scrub brush type of help.  It would be small so maybe 2 side by side.

@veganostomy  ...Hi Eric... sorry for the late reply. I'll explain in a new forum this week sometime... anyways,  I do get a good long wear time since I went back to square one...the pouch I went home from hospital with...is...Hollister 8531.   I never used a 2 piece for more then a day bcuz of a quick leak & it felt way too bulky & showed under my clothes far  more then the simple one piece.

If you don't like the edges curling up its likely bcuz your skin is still adjusting to the wider wafer & tape area.  You can try the coloplast C shaped stretchy tapes. I'm addicted to them!  They just give me so much more confidence.  I'm just coming to day 8 of a pouch & theres still no signs of leakage or the stoma hole softening enough to cause concern. No curling egdes bcuz I use the C shaped  tapes & they've never curled.   The amazing gentleman who created this fabulous site informs us in Videos that we can ask for samples! Lol! There are 2 sizes of tapes. The original uses 2 tapes to circle the pouch tape & the large uses 3 tapes. I found the large caused more skin coming off then the regular size.  Eventually my skin adapted to the extra tapes but for dry itchy areas I put a small amount of cream from a tube from an over the counter eczema / cortisone cream on it, its very useful in stopping the itch around my tapes that I occasionally get.

I also use the Osto E Z Vents. However the little flaps on the vents tend to fall off if its used too much.   So I take about a 1/4" or less slip of the C Tapes and stick it on my vent lid.  Its never fail in securing the flaps.

I also use a piece of it to secure the areas of weakness on the opening of the drain on the pouch. You know, the areas that leak the blue deoderant & stain on our undies.. or is it just me who gets that?  I also use a piece to cover the charcoal vent it when it starts to show signs of break down & possible leaks, about 3 days in.   I tried both the vent & ventless pouches but decided the vent is helpful in allowing me to rest my arthritic fingers after a change in pouches.
