Hi everyone. I heard from John today. He is pretty weak and his body isn’t up for chemo yet, so they are pushing it to the new year. He appreciates all the good thoughts and apologizes for anyone who may have worried that he hasn’t been posting.

To all my US friends, Happy Thanksgiving this week. Reminds me of the thread we had all about pie a few years ago, and makes me miss Stella. 😕

Thank you for the update, Liza.  John has been such a positive and encouraging support here on VO; he is a good man, and he is surely in my thoughts. May he be on the road to good health.

Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I am looking forward to pumpkin pie.

I love the smell of coffee in the morning. It smells like .... victory.

Thank you for the update! I'm always thinking of John, and know how difficult it must be for him right now. I hope he's getting the rest and recovery he needs.

Thank you Liza! I so appreciate the messages you relay too.

John, stay strong & know we are all rooting for you!

Do you have some kind of a craft or something you can do while you are recouping from surgery & building strength for chemo? Knitting perhaps, lol!  Wood carving ? There's lots of videos on line to learn wood carving. Did you know there's a wood that glows in the dark? Google it & see about it,  it's the coolest thing. Also did you know that the bark of the Ponderosa Pine Tree smells like Vanilla? My Grand-D had me smelling every pine tree here for two  months after she learned that from a kids science video.  We did get some interesting  looks! Lol!! And pinecones open & close to protect the seeds from wildfires & invasive bugs...

If you're bored, maybe challenge yourself to learn something new every day about whatever interests you or doesn't interest you! Hugs from across the miles old man! We care about you John!

Has anyone heard from John lately? I emailed him on Saturday and haven’t heard back. Usually he responds next day at the latest.

@tigerlily ... No, I haven't. I've been quite  sick with Bronchitis & before that a nasty headcold. Compliments of the kindergarten class my Grand is in & my sappy immune system.  I've been feeling really out of it, even my eyes are in on the party.  These antibiotics are horrible on my guts. My irons about 3 and I can't think past my eyebrows like I could 6 werks ago. Ugh, now I'm whining & have no reason to !! On that note, the iron infusion needed special permission & it has finally been approved & will be infused on the 24th, Merry Christmas to me.

John!!  If your reading along, Please, give us an update on you?? I think of you so often.  And you ready for Christmas? Please, say something .... what are you doing to pass the time as your healing from surgery to have cancer treatments? Do you read? Sketch? Colour , paint?? Or are you so tired you can't function much at all.  These are things I think about when I think of you! We CARE about YOU & we all miss your input here buddy!! So Please.. make some noise for us!!

@dlkfiretruck Just heard from John! He says he’s doing okay, stuck in limbo waiting for chemo. He says he’s still losing weight even though his appetite is good. He’s home, after a brief stay in hospital for an infection. He gives his wife Lorraine a lot of credit for helping him through this, and he really appreciates the support from his buddies at VO. So relieved to hear from him.

@tigerlily Oh, this is so good to hear!! Thank you JOHN!! THANK YOU tigerlily forecasting that news on! Thank you Lorraine for taking such good care of your hubby too.  John holds a high place of importance around VO, so when he's/you're  ready to come back John, we'll be here!!

You stay strong John and practice some pacman Yoga!! Close those eyes, breathe in slowly nice and deep through your mouth and then out slowly thru your nose 10 times. While resting pretend there's a packman inside of you eating at that nasty cancer. Nibble Nibble. Nibble... let it eat it all away until nothing is left!! And repeat twice a day. They have proven that deep breathing excercises helps reset stress levels & calms an anxious mind & slows those jittery nerves deep in our stomachs when we are anxious about something!

A few falls back , my Dad died. I was talking to my sister who had her cell phone on speaker & her whole voice changed & so did her breathing. I realized she was in trouble if possibly passing out!! I insisted she pull the truck over! She only needed to be told once & she did it. She had been hyperventilating,  was alone on a busy hwy. She had no bag to breathe into to slow the high oxygen input which is why she felt she'd pass-out while crying behind the wheel. I was so glad I had called her & found her crying!! I had her pull her shirt over her face & place her hands over her mouth too. As she followed my breathing Instructions she calmed way down. She has 6 kids & this was so unlike her to panic about anything, 4 of those kids are rambunctous, regular ER visitors! Once she could make a sentence that was understandable & she had stopped crying, she asked me how I knew she was hyperventilating!! She had never experienced it!!!! ... self experience I told her. I also insisted she practice deep breathing 2ce a day until a week after Dads service.  She actually did & she told me last time I was out Vancouver way that she will still pull out the deep breathing when she feels stressed bcuz it does work!!

So John, if my tough little sister with all those kids & crazy 🏍 motorcycle 🏁  racing boys says it works, it works honey. You get on that... it might make the time go a bit faster if you feel you have more control over any stress that comes your way!

I hope you'll check in at 🎄 Christmas or before it or maybe this was it!! Lol! At any rate, I hope you & your family have a Merry Christmas & a much better New Year!!! ... Hugs and many prayers Jihn from across the big waters!!

Linda

John and Lorraine, thinking of you both and I will forever be grateful for your support and advice despite the fact that you were going through so much yourself ,
