Hi to my old friends. It's been a while.Take down done in 8/20 had diverticulitis. Fluctuations between constipation and diarrhea at least once a month. Not a big issue to me really annoying. My excellent surgeon stated that may clear up in time and may not. Monitor yourself. I was sick for a week, pain level about a 7,extremely constipated, extreme abdominal pressure like having a baby pushing hard to defecate ,bloating, gas and few other symptoms. Scared to death about a blockage. Did go on Saturday all night long !! Has anyone had this experience? Having a CT and bld work. Will take my Miralax and Benefiber. Miralax hardly worked last week .GI MD stated there might b a stricture or beginning of a blockage. TY so much friends. Cyrisse...yes, long time no read you here! But sorry for your troubles. It's hard when things are going good then take a turn. Ofcourse, if you think you have a blockage you should go to the hospital. Especially if pain gets too much and nausea sets in. I've got a whack of scar tissue causing these issues, different from strictures though. Maybe someone here will know and chime in soon for you. I do hope things go well for you! All the best! Linda Good to see you again Cyrisse. I’m glad you have a successful surgery. -Liza Fluids, fluids and more fluids is an approach mentioned many times on the forum. Otherwise like me last month 6 days in hospital. after a night of intense pain bloating vomiting and diarrhoea. Trip to hospital treatment comprised of 2 days on a drip nil by mouth, 2 days clear fluid and 2 days soft diet. fortunately the resting of the digestive system did the trick and resolved the issue. The surgeons were sharping their scalpels, however they were as pleased as me it resolved since surgery can be a flight into the unknown, phew! Additionally we can consider sometimes the peristalsis (Pushing action) slows as a result of food, emotions or stress, its just for us, its more extreme. Strictures and blockages do occur because of the scar tissues and any adhesions that can form from the surgery. It is not a condition to take lightly so do follow up with the medics. Hope you get some answers and improvement. its a scary and unpleasant experience. My thinking is bloating disrupts the flow, any constipation or diarrhoea should be address quickly before they become a problem. Medical help is currently hard to obtain quickly these days - be persistent! Hope others can add to this discussion as its a very important topic to all of us best wishes Colostomy Jan 2020 Thx for sharing and support. Still working on things to find out what’s what. TY
