I had read before my surgery that you can still do the things you love after becoming a permanent ostomate. Well, I was cautiously optimistic after my surgery. The surgery took a lot more out of me than expected, but slowly, I have been getting back to the things I want to and love to do. I hit a milestone today, as one of my favorite hobbies is woodworking, guitar making in particular, and I got back into the shop and finished a project begun before my surgery. No problems at all related to surgery or ostomy. In fact, before surgery, I had to run into the house about every hour to deal with cramping and urgency, but not anymore. So, score one for the surgery. I hope you don't mind me sharing a photo of the guitar that I finished today - a Colorado beetle-killed pine semi-hollow electric. Here's to many more to come. Ulcerative Colitis (1995) Good for you, Glenn. Would love to see a picture-I guess the photo didn't come through. I have a Simon and Patrick parlor guitar that was made in Canada. Though I primarily strum, I enjoy using it when I sing. God bless, Stella Ulcerative Colitis (1995) Ulcerative Colitis (1995) Ulcerative Colitis (1995) For those about to rock we salute you, Wow that’s pretty impressive Glenn, plus giving new life to what would have been discarded. This lads well impressed ? ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Glenn, That is gorgeous!! You do very good work and have an obvious talent!! And to be so good at something you enjoy doing is a real gift. -Liza Wow, Glenn, it is beautiful - I love the shadings and colors. To make an instrument that is such a piece of art is quite a wonderful thing to be doing. Colostomy 4/30/18. That is amazing, Glenn! The sound must be gorgeous. Is it a 16 inch box? Gee, I wonder if you could upload an audio of you playing it? Stella Wow, great work!! These are the types of stories I love reading. Returning to the things we loved doing before surgery is probably one of my top criteria for measuring progress after surgery. So glad that you could return back to it! How long have you been making guitars? I'm assuming you also play them, correct? Just your friendly neighborhood ostomate. Eric: Thanks. It's actually a funny story because it was my family Dr. who taught me to build guitars about 5 years ago. We work together often. I joked with him this weekend that if anything went wrong, he'd be expected to fix it. I do play enough to know if the instrument is set up properly, but I'd much rather build than play. Take care! Ulcerative Colitis (1995) Colostomy 4/30/18. Hi LL, Again another great talent. It’s really great the enjoyment folks get from working with their hands and the impressive results ? ileostomy 31st August 1994 for Crohns Wow! What a beautiful apron! I enjoy sewing as well, but I like creating "stuffies". I would love to share a picture, but I have as yet to figure out how to do that on my Android! (Any suggestions would be appreciated ?.) Stella LL, I love that apron!! It is so cute. I sew as well, but my specialty is quilts. I like straight lines. Lol. I have made a handful of bed quilts, a handful of lap quilts and 15 baby quilts (hubby and I have 15 nieces and nephews). If I can decide which one I will post a picture. ? This is one of my favorites. It was for a niece who was born before I learned quilting, so rather than a baby quilt it was a 13th birthday lap quilt. -Liza @sjlovestosing Hi Stella, how I got the photo on was to begin the posting and then snap the photo directly - I didn’t use the ”Attach photo” option because each time I tried the picture was blurred. Hope this helps you. Looking forward to seeing your work! Colostomy 4/30/18. @squeakyandliza love the quilt! Depth, light and shadow - beautiful and interesting. Colostomy 4/30/18. -Liza
