Hi, Always tricky getting settled into a rhythm. I have always thought a 2 piece was easier to put on the the 1. It gives you more of a view to what you are doing. 😀👍

I think you're right. I'll try tol remove the textile cover from the top of my bags, so I can get a better view of what I'm doing. Hopefully that will help my placement issue. It's actually only a problem because of the pancaking I'm experiencing.

The filters can have a down side causing pancaking. Plus some air in the bag helps. A couple of sheets of loo paper rolled into a ball and popped into the bag is a help. Have to say I sense a good attitude and approach 🤗 👍👍👏

@cat-momma  ...Its so good to read your update. You've been so prepared for the surgery & learning from Erics site must have been a huge bonus for you, including forums. Everything takes time & eventually as your experience builds,  it'll help you figure things out too.

When I put my pouch on now, I fold the wafer away from me kind of on an agle to my right & try & line up the center bottom with one side of my stoma/ skin area. Very similar to this,  /  kind of an angle. I'm finding it does help with my down facing D shaped skin & stoma to fit better.  I'm a tad paranoid of the skin burns that can happen so quickly from a leak, esp. at night, so I find this makes it easier for me to have a better fit.

You know you can ask any questions here & know that... no question is a stupid question.

Linda

lol.... I said "zero ballooning" in my last post. Well..... that aged very quickly as I woke up with a massive balloon on my belly. Managed to change it before disaster struck. But Tilly was really active, so I was happy I tucked a plastic bag in my pants to catch any fall out.

I ate a dish with garlic last night which used to cause me problems before the bag. Now I'm so happy that I have a bag that I can simply change.

Cutting a viewing window on my bag does make it much easier to apply it correctly. But it does seem to impact how the filter functions. Farts have become quite smelly now, lol. Good thing I'm not going anywhere yet.

@cat-momma

Have you tried the EZ-Vent for ballooning? I get ballooning all the time at night and just vent the gas with the EZ-Vent.

@tim , I have not tried them yet. Usually my bag is just very full early in the mornings. This gassy balloon situation was (knock on wood) a one time situation. But if it happens more often, I might look into them. I don't think they're covered by insurance where I live, but haven't really looked into that.

@cat-momma smith and nephew makes an adhesive remover wipe called Remove and they also have one called Unisolve that should take off that residue. You may have to use a few wipes but it’s better than any adhesive remover I have tried. I now use these daily.

@tim my client uses the Ez vent but what I’m finding is when she leaves it open at night it leaks through the little hole.

@chelly Oh gosh, no don't have it open overnight. When I wake up to turn over, I do a quick check of my bag to see if there's any gas, then release the EZ-vent, and plug it back in. Then back to sleep!

@chelly Yes, I've tried the bags with the filters but they get clogged and end up not venting gas at all and smell because output is clogged in them. The EZ-vents seem to be the best solution for now. Remember to prep the bags (use alcohol on the plastic and attach the vent. as per their instructions) 24 hrs before you use them, to asure that they stick properly. The only time I've had a problem was when for some reason the vent itself came apart. Only once in 3 years though!

@tim hi, I don’t use them myself but my client uses them. My boss usually puts the vent in but I had her open it overnight thinking that is how it works but she blew up with air anyhow and it leaked from the hole. Now I know, thanks to you that I just need to check for sue and open and let it out.
